Everybody Loves Beast Mode: Why Marshawn Lynch is so damn marketable

Marshawn Lynch has a television show.

The Bay Area native and Oakland Raider teamed up with Bleacher Report and Facebook to form No Script, which B/R describes as a ‘show about Marshawn Lynch having a show.’

The concept is completely based around Lynch’s personality. They put the Pro Bowl running back in the craziest situations and just film his reactions. That’s the meat of the show: Beast Mode being Beast Mode. And it’s genius.

Someone at B/R must have had their ears open because the web has literally been begging for this. Because, let’s face it: Marshawn Lynch is incredibly marketable.

Beyond his head-first running style that got him his nickname to his service back to his community, he has an appeal that reaches across a diverse platform.

We all should have seen it coming. Ghost riding the IR cart back when Beast Mode was at Cal should have been an indication of the type of character he was.

But, “I’m just here so I won’t get fined” was my introduction to the personality that is Marshawn Lynch.

The one-liner became his defense mechanism in the face of media leading up to Super Bowl XLIX two years ago after facing up to $50,000 in fines if he did not ‘make himself available’ to the media.

So Marshawn found a loophole.

Lynch stayed at his designated podium for 4 minutes, 51 seconds. At the 4:51 mark, he said “time,” stood up, and walked away from the microphone.

Instantly, I was a fan. Not only because it was defiant and rebellious but because he refused to let his job control every aspect of who he was.

His comfortability in his self is inspiring. The kid had moxie and I wasn’t the only one who thought so.

Ever since that Super Bowl, my eyes were opened. There was much more to this man from Oakland, California with the grill, long locks, and aggressive running style.

What I, and what advertisers apparently, saw was someone able to capture the appeal of regular day people everywhere, a gift that stems from how he handles things with ease and authenticity.

After that Super Bowl — when the Seahawks didn’t give it to him at the one-yard line for the win — Lynch decided to retire. Little did we know that we’d get more Marshawn because of it.

That following February, while joining several pro football players with American Football Without Barriers, videos surfaced of Lynch dancing on a camel and, later, visiting a children’s hospital and hooping with students.

Then, later that September, Lynch appeared on Running Wild with Bear Grylls where Lynch visits the Corsican Mountains in France for two days.

In the episode, Lynch discusses his social welfare work with Grylls and they hunt pig.

That following year in January, Lynch visited Paisley, Scotland. This time the world got to see him doing wheelies and narrowly avoiding buses.

During his Scotland visit, he also spread Skittles cheer in Houston, Scotland ahead of the Super Bowl (in Houston, Texas). He even declared himself a “bagpiper.”

As Lynch became available to the public eye — especially after being so limited at media day — people began to fall in love with the real person they saw.

He had personality, charm, and a way of connecting with people of all walks of life. It’s why he’s so marketable and it’s certainly why Bleacher Report and Facebook did a deal.

Even now that he’s back with his hometown Raiders, who have been struggling (2-4)  due to injuries at quarterback, Marshawn still adds his flair, dancing, all while getting hyphy on the sidelines.

In an organization known as the No Fun League, Marshawn is an example of not letting ‘the shield’ weigh you down.

And few know that Lych has been sitting for the National anthem for 11 years and has spoken out in support of Kaepernick.

It’s kinda hard not to fuck with him.

Yes Lawd! 8 times Marshawn Lynch kept it too real for the NFL

Marshawn Lynch is back this season and we’ve gotta admit, the NFL really ain’t shit without him.

Not only will he still be a key piece to the Raiders potentially reaching a Super Bowl but what he’s doing for his hometown of Oakland is unrivaled.

If Seahawks fans are tight that he left them, then someone tell Pete Carroll he shoulda ran the ball at the one-yard line!

With that said, we can expect a lot of controversy when it comes to Beast Mode because if history repeats itself, he’s gonna rack up a whole lotta fines this season.

The NFL (or the No Fun League) is notorious for sucking the life out of its players and being an overall unfair system but when it comes to Marshawn, they just aren’t prepared for how real he keeps it.

To put it simply, this man is just about that action and it at the end of the day it doesn’t matter how much they try to tax him. Marshawn is gonna stay true to himself and represent his city of Oakland the best way he knows how.

Sure, that could mean being ratchet, cursing on live TV, and bugging out from time to time but it also means giving back to his community and his fans.

With the Raiders set to move to Vegas in two seasons, Marshawn has the opportunity to truly become an even bigger legend in the city of Oakland than he already is by bringing the city its first Super Bowl championship in the modern era.

If he can do that, you can expect Marshawn statues throughout The Bay, babies being named Beast Mode, and probably a key to the city or some shit.

Come to think of it, he’s already done enough to earn all that. He just has to go out there and remind everybody he’s about that action, boss. Peep the eight times Marshawn Lynch kept it TOO real for the NFL above.

Marshawn Lynch’s return to the NFL is already the greatest shit ever

The NBA season is almost over which means one depressing thing: all there is left is baseball. Shit is about to be too trash.

One silver lining is that the NFL season isn’t too far away. I guess.

The offseason workouts are in full swing and besides Odell skipping all these OTAs to turn up, the biggest plotline is Marshawn Lynch’s return to Oakland.

After an entire year off, presumably to smoke mad blunts and eat skittles, Beast Mode is back and playing for his hometown Raiders in black and silver. With Derek Carr, Amari Cooper, and Marshawn, the Raider have a serious shot at competing for a title this season, just in time before their hot boy move to Las Vegas.

Marshawn knew that with only a couple seasons left in Oakland, he had to take the chance, coming out of retirement to play for his childhood team and win them a Super Bowl.

For one, Marshawn has been looking like a beast in practice.

Head coach Jack Del Rio definitely has the hard-on just watching Marshawn slice through the defense during practice. It looks like he hasn’t lost a single step since dipping from the Seahawks. If anything he’s rested and ready.

Pairing him with Derek Carr in the backfield is going to be a deadly combination.

Aside from that, Marshawn has also been getting up to speed with the Oakland media, which has of course been some of the most entertaining shit ever.

Peep the wide stance. You already know this man is ready to run through a motherfucker face.

It wasn’t until he actually started speaking when reporters got that gold they were looking for.

Marshawn is gonna have mad touchdowns this season and you already know he’s gonna be a first-round fantasy pick up. But what I’m most interested to see is how many fines he racks up. The NFL is mad soft and is gonna try to body his shit but FOH Goodell.

When asked what returning to the NFL and playing for the Oakland Raiders meant to him Marshawn said,

“I mean, there’s been always something to, being from Oakland that, you want to play at home and have the opportunity. I mean, you’d understand why it’s so big for me to come and play. But knowing that they was leaving, a lot of the kids here probably won’t have the opportunity for most of their idols growing up, being in your hometown no more. With me being from here and continuing to be here, it was my opportunity to get to see somebody that actually did from where they from and for the team that they probably idolized.”
