Beyoncé and Jay Z celebrate their celebrity wedding 13 years later
Back on April 4th 2008, Beyoncé and Jay Z tied the knot in an ultra-secret ceremony held in New York City. For the occasion, Beyoncé had 70,000 white dendrobium orchids (weighing 750 pounds) flown in from Thailand to decorate Jay’s 13,500sq.ft Tribeca penthouse.
The aisle was lined with floating candles and trees. Only 40 lucky guests were in attendance, including fellow Destiny’s Child members, Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland, along with Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow.
For the ceremony, Beyoncé wore a beautiful strapless ivory dress with a sweetheart neckline (designed by her mother, Tina Lawson) and changed into a slinky dress for the reception party. Guests danced until nearly 5 am to a selection of the couple’s own hits, including Crazy in Love.
Ciara and Russell Wilson threw down though
After dating for only 11 months, Russell Wilson, a Seattle Seahawks football quarterback, proposed to r&b singer, Ciara, with an extravagant, show-stopping engagement ring. The reportedly 16-carat sparkler featured a diamond cut center surrounded by four diamond baguettes.
The couple soon married in a chapel at Peckforton Castle in Cheshire, England. The fairy-tale-style wedding ceremony featured close family and friends in attendance, notably, Kelly Rowland, Lala Anthony, Jennifer Hudson, and David Otunga.
Ciara wore a custom Roberto Cavalli dress with bell lace sleeves and a full skirt, while Russell donned a Giorgio Armani suit. Future Zahir, Ciara’s son, was given the job of ring bearer, while wearing a custom suit also designed by Giorgio Armani.
Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade kept their wedding simple yet extravagant
After dating for around five years, actress Gabrielle Union married NBA star Dwyane Wade in an extravagant ceremony held at the beautiful castle-like Chateau Artisan in Miami.
Gabrielle wore a stunning custom Dennis Basso dress featuring a sweetheart neckline and hand-sewn bodice adorned with pearls, crystals and bugle beads.
Roughly 200 guests were in attendance for the ceremony and reception party, including NBA stars, Lala Anthony, and her husband, Carmelo Anthony.
John Legend also performed live during the union (which was given an upscale 1930s theme). Gabrielle walked down the aisle to his song “You and I”.
To drink, guests enjoyed sipping on Gabrielle’s own brand wine, Vanilla Puddin’ Chardonnay, imported straight from Napa Valley. To top things off, the couple even performed their own choreographed handshake just after being announced as husband and wife.
Celebrity weddings never cease to impress. Beyoncé and Jay Z, Ciara and Russell Wilson, and Gabrielle Union, and Dwyane Wade have undoubtedly had some of the most memorable celeb ceremonies to date.
