It’s Week 4 of the NFL and everyone’s focus is still on the national anthem protests.
Compared to last week, the protests weren’t as prevalent. Most teams instead decided to stand in solidarity with linked arms rather than sit out the anthem.
About 30 San Francisco 49ers sat out the anthem while the rest of their team stood behind them – hands to their shoulders. The team had not played since September 21, which was before Trump’s “son of a bitch” speech in Alabama.
In a statement released on Twitter the team said:

The strongest act of protest came from Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch. Before his game with the Denver Broncos Marshawn was rocking an “Everybody Vs. Trump” shirt.

On Thursday night Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rogers stressed that the protests were not to disrespect military but rather to stress equality,
“This is about equality. This is about unity and love and growing together as a society, and starting a conversation around something that may be a little bit uncomfortable for people.”

With all it’s presidential drama and rookies breaking records this season might turn out to be pretty fun to watch after all.
I just hope the Chargers don’t have to face an opposing crowd for the rest of the season.
