A$AP Rocky and French Montana may have an album together, it’s lit

When you look back at the albums that stood out in 2017 you would be wrong not to mention both French Montana and A$AP Rocky’s efforts.

Cozy Tapes, Vol 2: Too Cozy  showcased Rocky at his best, proving that although he may have his hands in the fashion world, his flow is still top five. And French Montana’s “Unforgettable” off his Jungle Rules album is probably up for record of the year.

So when Montana revealed in his interview with Montreality, that the two have a joint project, which will be coming out “real soon,” I immediately began imagining the sonic chemistry and decided that it had to happen. French said,

“Me and Rocky got a project. [We’ll] be coming out with it real soon.”

The two have worked together before, even as recently as this year. Rocky and French dropped a song and video titled “Said N Done” back in February which shows just how the two mesh in the booth.

But of course, a complete project could have a different feel altogether.

Among other gems in the interview were the behind the scene insights French gave on his first album, Excuse My Frenchwhich dropped back in 2013. Around the 5:56 mark, French reveals that J. Cole almost produced the effort.

“J. Cole almost executive produced my first album after I played him the music,” he says. “We were on the Club Paradise tour with Drake, I was playing him my album and he called me one day, ‘Yo French, I would love to help you with the album, I’mma executive produce it.’ He’s one of the best out of our generation. The time just wasn’t right, he was moving I was moving, things like that need time.”

I have heard enough collaborative rap albums to know that names don’t matter, it’s the chemistry that will show in the finished product.

It will be interesting to see what these two bring out of each other if they do indeed manage to get the project off the ground.

A$AP Rocky and Under Armour are renovating community centers across America

Under Armour doesn’t have a history of being the flyest brand ever.

The brand’s main presence has always been on courts and fields. While Nike and Adidas market to casual consumers, Under Armour sticks to their lane.

Kevin Durant even said “No one wants to play in Under Armours,” when asked about his fellow Warrior Stephen Curry’s signature shoe.

After being left out the conversation for so long, the sportswear company is ready to turn their image around. Back in July they announced an upcoming collab with fashion killa A$AP Rocky, but we had no idea what that meant considering he’s an artist.

Now it’s clear that Rocky will be working on his own line with Under Armour in hopes of making the brand more fashionable. Todd Montesano, Head of Partnerships for Under Armour, called the collaboration “a first for Under Armour” in a statement.

Along with finessing their clothes, Rocky and Under Armour are working together to renovate community centers for at risk youth. The plan will begin in Baltimore, New York, and Los Angeles and continue to grow from there. Rocky said,

“Under Armour was the company that was most excited about my idea to turn sportswear products on their head while bettering kids’ lives. I now have the ability to create a better situation for today’s kids so they can go from school to a safe place to create without boundaries.”

This is a new direction for Under Armour as well as A$AP. With Rocky bringing his swag to the brand, as he’s done with J.W. Anderson and Alexander Wang, we’re sure to see something great.

As the most fashionable man in hip-hop we can only imagine the heat that’ll come out of this collaboration.

Providing for underprivileged youth and evolving an entire brand, A$AP Rocky is not taking any Ls. With the release of Cozy Tapes Vol. 2 and this next on the rapper’s horizon, Rocky is moving the culture in the direction of his choice.

Hopefully the collab is dope and I’ll be rocking some Under Armour shit soon.

A$AP Rocky drops ‘Flacko Jodye’ vaporizers to get you smacked

A$AP Rocky and luxury vape company Kandy Pens just made vaping piff a little bit more stylish. The collaborative effort to create the Flacko Jodye “Walnut” Collection was definitely worth the year-long wait.

It was only a matter of time before Rocky ventured into the vape world. Rocky’s fire design ideas working with clothing brands such as Adidas, Alexander Wang, Dior, and Guess only prove that his influence is straight gas and he has an impressive eye for aesthetics.

Kandy Pens has also worked with the likes of Kodak Black, PNB Rock, Sonny Digital, Young M.A., Zoey Dollaz, DJ Esco, and XXXTentacion. The vape company has been featured in multiple rap videos.

Belligerent old rock dad Liam Gallagher calls A$AP Rocky ‘WhatsApp Ricky’

Former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher is not one to mince words, or really give a shit at all, so it’s not exactly a shock that he called A$AP Rocky “WhatsApp Ricky,” but it’s definitely hilarious.

Speaking to British GQ about what kind of music his kids listen to, Gallagher relayed that his kids “fucking love grime music” including artists like Skepta and Stormzy.

He got those dudes’ names right!

But then he went a little of the rails with, “WhatsApp Ricky. You know, the American geezer, stylish, funny gold teeth…”

https://twitter.com/Stevenlee555/status/894971946034659328

When the interviewer corrected him, Gallagher made the rather astute point that WhatsApp Ricky is “a better fucking name anyway.”

Honestly, he might not be wrong. WhatsApp Ricky is an amazing name. Liam Gallagher just continues to be an influential force in modern music.

The interview has yet to be published online, but when it is, it’s probably worth a read because there are some other gems in there.

According to NME, Gallagher went off on Late Late Show host James Corden and his glorified talent show Carpool Karaoke.

Gallagher was asked if he would ever go on the show. His response?

“No, thank you very much. No fucking chance, mate. With that fat bloke from Kevin and Perry?”

Gallagher was corrected again as he was referring to British sitcom Gavin & Stacy, which Corden co-created and costarred in.

Liam went on to say, “James Corden is a knobhead.”

Amazing.

Liam Gallagher is the ultimate crazy, out of it rock dad. He doesn’t really understand what the hell his kids are listening to, he can’t remember names, and he’s definitely not fucking with Carpool Karaoke.

He may be kind of a grouchy old total asshole, but it’s hilarious!

Please keep interviewing this guy.

Tyler the Creator and ScHoolboy Q can’t stop roasting each other

With the speed we get our news at, social media jokes can elevate to headline-generating “beef” within minutes.

Just a simple joke can turn Twitter into a children’s playground where petty shots are flying left and right.

I mean, I guess a fight over the internet is better than in real life but they’re still dumb.

Twitter is now losing it over ScHoolboy Q and Tyler, the Creator over Tyler’s “Who Dat Boy.” But here’s why they’re trippin.

It all started after Twitter user @_Hodges_ tweeted SchoolboyQ:

Which lead to @ScHoolboyQ responding with this:

Once Tyler saw this he absolutely destroyed ScHoolboy Q:

People were left unsure whether they were serious or not but let’s be real both of these dudes are known for trolling.

This isn’t even their first “beef” just peep this…

A friendly hello

Q went straight to his attacking his momma, damn

Tyler really want Q to moisturize

Q had the lotion on deck

“Like a Virgin buying condoms” now thats a classic

He really dragged Wayne into this

LEAVE HIS ASHY KNEES ALONE lmao

These dudes are constantly playing with each other. They’re friends so there isn’t any real beef between them.

If you’re still unconvinced, here’s a video of Q hanging out with Rocky and Tyler.

A$AP Rocky talks Black Lives Matter, freestyles about gentrification at Oxford

On Tuesday, the Oxford Union, the famous debate society at Oxford University, invited A$AP Rocky to a talk on Constructing the Hip-Hop Artist.

In recent years, the Oxford Union has been attempting to rebuild its image after a racist scandal severely damaged its reputation.

The Union advertised a cocktail named the ‘Colonial Comeback’ across the university on pamphlets that depicted a pair of black hands in chains.

It was sold as part of a debate the Union was having over whether England should pay its former colonies reparations.

This was in 2015, and at the time Nikhil Venkatesh, a then-BME at the Student Union said of the scandal, according to the Guardian,

“Reducing centuries of violent oppression to a humorously named cocktail is simply unacceptable. We are still living with the damaging legacy of colonialism. Sadly Oxford, and especially the Oxford Union, remains dominated by privilege, which is why inconsiderate episodes such as this occur. Oxford students are becoming more aware of these issues, and we have in our student body a number of activists who are trying to effect change in our attitudes to race.”

This is the context in which the Oxford Student Union invited A$AP Rocky to talk about a variety of things, including his politics and gentrification.

When asked why he doesn’t get political in his music, A$AP said he talks about what’s real to him and he isn’t going to rap about politics to “stand out”,

“Not everybody should be like Kendrick or talk about political things just to stand out. Also, not everybody should be like A$AP Mob and talk about drugs and girls and clothes. We don’t all have to talk about the same topics.”

A$AP was also questioned on his opinions on Black Lives Matter, to which he gave a rather convoluted answer, calling police shootings “inevitable” and black-on-black crime as the “main topic”,

“Why are we exploiting the beef between the urban community and the police force when 60 people got shot on a Friday and Saturday [on July holiday weekend in 2014] in Chicago in black-on-black crime? So one cop shoots a black person… that kind of shit is inevitable. Not to glorify it, but that’s nothing new. Let’s talk about the black-on-black crime. If you’re not gonna talk about the main topic, then don’t talk about it all.”

It’s not great when you’re recycling Fox News talking points about black-on-black crime, but Rocky went on to deliver an impassioned freestyle about the damage of gentrification on his upbringing,

Rocky seems to have some complex opinions about the state of race in America, which will surely not sit well with members of the left and the BLM movement.

You can watch the whole talk below as Rocky talks about his debut album, trying to go mainstream, and the impact of the late great A$AP Yams on his life.
