At only 11-years-old Javon “Wanna” Walton has already started making waves in the world of boxing and gymnastics. He got his nickname “Wanna” because he wanted to do everything when he was little.
Javon is defying the traditional route athletes usually take sticking to one sport. That’s not good enough for the 6th grader. He wants to go to Olympics for both sports.
This is the first time we have ever seen a kid like this. Despite being so young Javon has a crazy work ethic if he doing something he wants to do his absolute best no matter what it is and boxing and gymnastics are no exception.
Javon starts training early in the morning usually starting with boxing for a couple hours, then gets some schoolwork done, and then he will head to gymnastics practice. Then he will do some more boxing training at night time and then call it a day.
The determination that this kid shows is absolutely insane and has a team behind him that is pushing him to be his absolute best. He is trained by his father in boxing who recently opened a gym so they train daily. The young man has his goals set high and plans to surpass his old man one day saying,
“Man, I love my dad but when I grow up I’m really looking forward to sparring with my dad.”.
He also has an older sister who is a gymnast and was influenced by her brothers work ethic. Now she’s boxing herself and absolutely hooked.
Javon was recently featured in an Ander Armour commercial featuring The Rock it called team UA Next.
He had to submit a video showcasing his skills as an athlete and he had to compete against thousands of kids and he was chosen along with some other phenomenal young athletes. When The Rock saw him, he knew Javon was the perfect fit.
The UA next campaign and commercial led to Javon develop more fame than he already had but despite being in this commercial his family is not letting the fame get to his head. His father said,
“The commercial has awarded him a lot of recognition but we are constantly reminding him that there are a lot kids out there that put a lot of work in and to be able to dedicate yourself and still have time to be a normal kid it’s cool to have a really big following on Instagram but unless you are really chasing your dreams and doing what you love to do all that really doesn’t matter.”
Cleary this kids has the work ethic and drive to get him where he needs to go and we can’t wait to see him in the Olympics in the future.
Yung Pinch is a rapper on the rise from Huntington Beach, California.
His songs have chill laid-back surfer vibe reminiscent of the beach town he hails from. As for his rap name, that was a real nickname he got when he was a freshman in high school.
He would always hang around seniors and he would smoke with them and because his hands were so small he would pinch the blunt so they all decided to call him Yung Pinch and the name stuck.
Originally, he hated the name but as he grew older the name grew onto to him until he finally accepted it.
Huntington Beach is not a place where you think a rapper would come from but Yung Pinch beat the odds and is one of the first rappers from their representing his city.
He earliest hits were over a year ago reaching up to 10 million views on YouTube.
The Cali rapper started playing drums at a very young age and that’s how he started gravitating to music. The first band that he listened to was the Red Hot Chili Peppers. He also used to skate and surf when he was younger.
While his music is very melodic and happy like everyone else, he’s had his trials and tribulations.
Before Yung Pinch was born, both of his parents were heavy drug users so he has always lived with grandparents and he was raised by them. His grandmother was a nurse and he had to work 12-hour shifts.
His grandfather died when he was eleven so he was forced to be the man of the house at a young age. His death led him to him to start smoking weed after he found out that his grandpa also smoked. In an interview he said,
“My grandpa’s death heavily affected me and my grandma heavily to the point where we had to move houses because the memories were too painful.”
Despite losing the father figure in his life, he pushed through and began to focus on music a lot more.
He started listening to hip-hop in the 8th grade and he began freestyling not long after. At the time he was listening to a lot of East Coast music and Like Wu-Tang, Nas, and other legends and it shows in his freestyles that he would release on his SoundCloud.
Compared to the slow melodic sound that he has now, his music taste and sound have completely evolved from back then. When he was a freshman, he started changing his musical tastes and that what has led to him finding his sound: chill beach town vibes.
His music has been making waves early he was invited by Blackbear to go on tour and they even remixed the California rappers most popular song “rock with us” which came out dope.
He was recently on tour with Bay Area rapper G-Eazy in Europe and he has been absorbing advice from everyone he has built a relationship with the industry.
He has a good head on his shoulders and his work is very consistent constantly dropping music every Friday which has garnered him a large and loyal fanbase.

Nowadays kids no longer play sports just for the enjoyment.
Most of them are already looking at it like a business and are working towards one day getting paid for their talents.
Of course the parents play a big role in this, from spending all of their time and money to helping their kids achieve their dreams in hopes that one day they will be the one being taken care of. But just how many parents are about this life?
“Nearly 20% of U.S. families spend more than $12,000 a year, or $1,000 per month, on youth sports, per child, according to a TD Ameritrade survey of parents between 30 and 60 years old with $25,000 in investable assets with kids currently playing youth sports or ones that did.”
Youth sports has turned into a completely different animal — wins and losses are taken very seriously by everyone involved as the potential of scholarship offers is really the first big step to achieving their dreams.
From middle school to high school, kids are training their bodies like young professionals and the talent is starting to show.
These are the young athletes are most certainly the most impressive in the age group and stand out for their athletic ability, skill and tenacity in their respective sports.
Jaylen Huff (8-years-old)
Jaylen Huff is only 8-years-old but looks like he has been playing football since his past life. Jaylen trains with his father, Roland Huff Jr, who owns his own gym called the Body Be 1 in Columbus, Georgia.
Their days start early at 5 am when Jaylen’s dad cooks him a specific breakfast where each portion of it is weighed. Jaylen’s father used to be in the military so he and his son Jaylen are constantly operating on a fixed schedule.
Throughout the day, Jaylen does a variety of exercises to help him improve his game from running on a treadmill with a football in his hand to running footwork drills with tires and obstacles.
All the training Jaylen has done has clearly payed off. He found popularity through an Instagram video that this dad filmed of him doing drills.
The clip went viral and Jaylen has since been been featured in many magazines. He has also caught the eye of top universities that are definitely watching to see how he will turn out.
Julian and Jaden Newman (16-years-old and 13-years-old)
Julian Newman, a name that is bound to ring a bell for anyone who knows about high school basketball. He started playing ball at just three and it’s been a wrap ever since.
His father is his trainer and has been training him since 3, having him do drills that include making 200 floaters, 200 jump shots and 100 free throws every day. He went viral for videos he had when he was younger, but now as a high schooler, he’s crushing.
These crazy training regimens have been paying off because he was able to start playing varsity in 5th grade and has been embarrassing kids bigger than him with his handles since then.
He currently holds the title of youngest player to score 1,000 points in high school and has been getting compared to NBA stars like Kyrie Irving, Steph Curry and Isaiah Thomas.
As of right now, Julian is playing his 6th season of varsity basketball and he is only going to get better.
It seems that basketball definitely runs in the Newman family because Julian has a younger sister name Jaden who is just as big of a baller as her older brother. She also started played at young age and was trained by their dad.
She currently hold the record for youngest girl to score 1,000 points in high school too. Jaden has some crazy handles with multiple supporting Instagram YouTube videos of her breaking ankles going viral.
She has so much talent and time will only tell how great she will be.
Tamari Davis (14-years-old)
Tamari Davis is a speed demon on the track field beating anyone she comes in contact with, no matter the age. She currently holds the 200m world record of 23.21 seconds for 14-year-olds.
As a freshman in high school, she’s set very big goals and is planning to tryout for the 2020 Olympics. With the way she’s been performing so far, she is well on track to do just that.
She is trained by Gary Evans, her track coach who maintains the balance of evolving her skills without burning her out to ensure a long, successful career through college and professionally.
Her coach understands that she’s still just a kid who needs to enjoy life, and not everything HAS to be about track, but her competitiveness keeps her grinding.
Titan Lacaden (11-years-old)
Titan Lacaden is an extremely talented 11-year-old football player from Hawaii — so much so that he was already offered a D1 scholarship from the University of Hawaii.
But what position is he? Basically all of them. Listed as a slotback, running back, and strong safety, there’s literally nothing he can’t do on the football field. He’s one of the fastest, hardest-hitting players on the field every time he lines up.
Titan’s dad, Frank Lacden, has been a football coach for 25 years at Saint Louis High School, and is now coaching his son’s pop warner team. He trains them as if they’re already at the next level. He instills the mindset that they need to think and train like champions and it’s clearly working after an undefeated season.
Clearly his coaching is have an amazing impact on the kids he coaches, especially his son, Titan. He constantly has Titan reviewing film so that he can see his mistakes clearly and correctly so that he can be better for the next game.
Titan is always training to get better and it shows in the film. He is not selfish at all and makes sure to share the ball with his teammates. He sees the team as a huge family where everyone should get their chance to shine.
Titan shines on both ends of the field and already has a winning mentality that will take him as far as he wants to go.
Kyree Walker (16-years-old)
Kyree Walker an absolute monster on the court. He is currently the number one sophomore player in his class and has received a cosign from Harrison Barnes on his game.
He is ridiculously athletic and at at such a young age it’s amazing the things he can do on the court. Kyree started playing basketball at the age of 9 and he has a serious passion for the game.
He has broken many ankles over his short time playing high school basketball and you can tell that he is a force to be reckoned with.
He has tested his skills against the best players in the country some who are older than him and has proven that he can hold his own and secure the win for his team.
Kyree Walker can do it all from handles, defense, dunking and passing his an all around monster on the court and he is only going to keep on getting better.
He has so much room to improve and we can’t wait to seem him at the collegiate level at Arizona State University where he will definitely be breaking some records before he goes pro.
Bonus: Oh yeah, and we can’t forget about Bunchie Young!
Trae Young’s name has been echoed throughout the halls of college basketball all season long and rightfully so. Averaging 27.4 points a game, he’s a human highlight reel and has been getting mad comparisons to Steph Curry.
And while his Oklahoma Sooners didn’t play too well during the later stretch of the season, they still made the Big Dance where Trae is ready to prove all of his doubters wrong.
But before Trae Young was dropping buckets all across the nation, he was just a kid from Lubbock, Texas who had a dream. Ever since Trae was a youngin’, basketball was his life. He was introduced to the game by his grandfather who taught him all the fundamentals and basics he has built upon today.
Unfortunately, Young’s grandfather passed away at an early age, but Trae plays in honor of him every time his foot touches the basketball court and he is definitely making his late grandpa proud.
Young went to Norman North high school in Norman, Oklahoma where he averaged 42.6 points per game his senior season and regularly sold out high school gymnasiums.
He has been putting up impressive numbers ever since he stepped foot on a college basketball court with the University of Oklahoma Sooners (also in Norman) and doesn’t seem to be letting off the gas any time soon.
When it comes to his mindset, he’s cool, calm, and confident. In an interview with Bleacher Report he said,
“I don’t feel pressure. I realize there’s a lot on my plate, a lot of expectations for me to come in and win and do certain things. But I’m just playing the way I always have. I mean, I’ve gotten better. But my game actually hasn’t changed much since high school. It’s just a bigger stage.”
His range and shooting ability are unmatched in the college game so much so that players all over the NBA are already starting to notice who he is.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fPZF3iUkcU
Young has been acknowledged by none other than King LeBron James for his basketball playing ability and bright future in the league.
LeBron always has his eye on the young up and coming talent and Trae Young is definitely on his radar.
But despite all of his achievements and recognition, Young is still being doubted because of his lack of height and size. Standing at 6’2″, Trae is pretty short, even for a point guard.
During high school he went under the radar because he was in the same class as Michael Porter Jr., Marvin Bagley III, and DeAndre Ayton. All three of those guys are considered future stars in the NBA but Trae Young may be no different.
Trae has always wanted to put on for his town and made a big decision to stay home in Norman for college.
Most basketball players dream of playing at big name schools like Duke, Kentucky, and UNC, but Trae decided to take a different path and it has made all the difference.
While he’s not known for dunking the ball viciously like other players in his class, his handles are insane and he can rarely be guarded on the court. It doesn’t matter if he is double teamed, he will find a way to get the basket and get the bucket.
When asked about the Steph Curry comparisons, he likes them, but at the same time Young wants to pave his own lane in the game. He told Bleacher Report,
“I’m definitely humbled by it. But ultimately I want to be my own self. I want people to say that I’m something new, something different. Something they’ve never seen before.”
Trae has an amazing passing ability and is not afraid to share the ball when necessary. He is also absolutely lethal from three-point range and his game is only getting better. Like I said, LeBron already knows!
The stage has been set for the star point guard to show the world how talented he really is and we are sure the he will go above and beyond everyone’s expectations.
Let’s see how he performs on the biggest stage of them all but we already know he’ll be ready to show the haters why height ain’t nothing but a number.
If you haven’t heard the name Mac McClung you are either highly uninformed or you live under a rocks and have not been paying attention to the royal rumble that is college basketball recruiting. Mac McClung has been generating a buzz for quite a while for his crazy bounce and insane dunks.
This kid AVERAGES 40 point games like it’s nothing and his energy is insane. He is from a small city called Gate City, Virginia and attends Gate City HS where he is currently a senior. Gate City was normally known for their football team but that all changed when Mac McClung took over as the star of the school.
McClung actually played football and baseball but during his middle school years but he decided to make the switch to basketball and his life has never been the same since. He was a smaller kid during his middle school years and a late bloomer in high school. Now he stands at 6’2 and weighs 175 pounds going into college.
Since he made the transition to basketball, he’s been obsessed with dunking. His dedication to learning to dunk led him to develop a freakish jumping ability that is second to none. His hang time and his explosiveness as he gets to the rim is what he is most known for and makes the crowd go crazy.
Mac exploded to stardom on social media will a clip of showcasing his dunking ability in a pick game and the clip has been blasted all over social media and ESPN.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ih_pBuWEy14
Ever since then Mac has been one-upping himself. McClung is not only a great dunker but an amazing shooter with the ability to finish in the paint.
Watching Mac dunking is like watching art being made, from his explosiveness from when he leaves the ground to caching the ball and slamming it down — it’s a spectacle to behold.
These are not normal dunks either. He is going between the legs, pulling off backwards dunks, and even jumping over people with complete ease. He brings crowds out to all of his games and if you have seen his clips you can definitely see why.
He has scored over 3,000 points in his high school career which is crazy achievement and he recently broke Allen Iverson’s record for most points scored in a season.
Despite all of these achievements Mac has remained humble and has not let the fame get to his head at all. He signs autographs for all of his fans and takes pictures with people because he used to be in that position. And as if that wasn’t enough, he’s also rapper Riff Raff’s first cousin!
Mac’s coach Scott Vermillion even said in a Overtime interview, “Mac always Always wanted to put Gate City on the Map”. Mac McClung just wants to put on for his city and he has definitely done that through excelling in basketball.
He is committed to Georgetown and we can’t wait to see what he will do on the college level and eventually the NBA.
If want know more about Mac, peep this mini-documentary that Overtime produced on his story. LIT.
Shareef O’Neal, son of the NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal, recently made his commitment to the University of Arizona, surprising some and also notably not choosing his father’s Alma Mater Louisiana State University.
Shareef spent a majority of his time living in his father’s shadow and has been constantly trying to pave his own in the world of basketball.
His game is naturally compared to his father’s dominant style of play on the court from his posterizing dunks on defenders and his insane rebounding capabilities on both sides of the court.
These are the talents that got Shaq into the hall of fame, a path that Shareef intends to follow in his own way. Earlier on in his basketball career Shareef was labeled a bust due to not having his father’s dominating physique and style of play.
However, he never let it get to him and let his individual style of play shine through and that is what has led him to become such a great basketball player in high school.
He used the criticism as motivation factor to elevate his game and plays with a chip on his shoulder every time he is on the court.
During the summer he got a chance to play basketball with Quavo of the Migos and it was very intense game, full of trash talk and alley-oops. The game got so intense that Shareef and Quavo had to meet up two other times to settle the score.
The games feature top high school basketball players like Bol Bol and Ron Artest III just to name a few. Ultimately, Huncho pulled out on top but it was a very close game.
Shareef’s style of play is very different from his father’s. He is able to rebound and viciously dunk just like his dad but he has also developed an excellent jump shot that is lethal from anywhere on the court.
Another quality that sets Shareef apart from his dad is his ability to make free throws. It was his dad’s kryptonite but a weakness that Shareef has overcome and strengthened.
Throughout Shareef’s high school career he has been constantly overlooked.
People look at him as if he is an underdog compared to other player like Zion Williamson, Michael Porter Jr., Marvin Bagley, and many of the hottest prospects in basketball. But Shareef is just as talented and dangerous on the court as the players listed above.
Shareef has shown that he has tremendous talent finishing around the basket, defenders don’t stand a chance guarding him in the paint, and he can also mix it up and take his defender to the perimeter.
Despite his diverse basketball skill set he was still denied a spot to play in the McDonald’s All-American Game where the top high school basketball players in the country compete against each other.
LeBron James was kind enough to offer words of encouragement and inspiration to young Shareef, assuring him that he should not be discouraged by this rejection and should instead work harder towards his dream of being in the NBA.
Shareef, however, was not outwardly bummed out that he wasn’t chosen for the McDonald’s All American game and congratulated players that were chosen on his Instagram and left it at that.
Shareef has a promising basketball career ahead of him, already committed to the University of Arizona he has the opportunity to show up and show out at the college level.
He seems to be a level headed kid that is not shaken easily be adversity and is laser focused on finishing his last year playing high school basketball.
Now setting his sights on working his way into NBA, we can’t wait to see the accomplishments and accolades he collects along the way to living his dream.
Here some highlights if you still need convincing.
Tee Grizzley is a 23-year-old rapper out the West Side of Detroit who exploded overnight in 2017 with his breakout hit “First Day Out”.
The song was literally recorded and released the day the rapper was released from prison. “First Day Out” took off and was able to garner two million views within a couple of weeks and currently has 43 million plays on YouTube.
It didn’t hurt that LeBron uploaded an Instagram video of him singing all the words to Tee’s hit song while working out (the day after the Cavs lost to the Warriors in last year’s NBA Finals), which tripled the song’s sales. So how did a kid who had everything going against him rise from the bottom and become a success?
Tee Grizzley grew up in the Joy Road area of Detroit. Mainly raised by his grandmother, when Tee Grizzley was coming up as a youngin’, he was exposed to the street life — drugs addicts, alcoholics, drug dealers, and constant violence.
He was never really involved in gang life as a kid and stayed on the right path for the most of his life. However, Tee’s mother and father were in and out of the prison a lot when he was young.
Grizz started getting into music in elementary school after being inspired by his uncles who put him on to hip-hop and rappers from his city. In middle school he even started his own group called the All Stars Ball Hard with three of his homies.
He went by the name ASBH Tee and the group frequently posted songs on YouTube.
In 2011, Tee’s mother was sentenced to 15 years in prison for drug trafficking and his father was was murdered one year later.
Despite all of these trials and tribulations Tee was able to become the first person in his family to attend college at Michigan State University, where he studied accounting and finance. However, after running into some money problems during his freshman year, he decided he had to make some extra cash.
Tee Grizzley was arrested for an attempted robbery at a jewelry store in Lexington, Kentucky. A customer in the store ended up pulling a gun on the Detroit rapper and held them there until the cops came.
He was also sentenced to 18 months to 15 years for a series of robberies at Hubbard Mall at Michigan State University that occurred in February 2014. He is permanently banned from Michigan State University campus in Lansing, although he did make amends with some of his victims by paying them their cash back on IG.
It was in prison that the Detroit rapper was given the name Tee Grizzley while he was imprisoned. He explained,
“That’s what people was calling me in there because I let my beard grow out, my dreads was wild, I was in there acting crazy. Working out, getting real big, just acting a grizzly in there.”
Tee Grizzley’s imprisonment left him with a lot of spare time, which he spent reading and enlightening himself about the world. He talked to people in prison who had life sentences and learned valuable lessons from them. It was here the Tee Grizzley was able to write the lyrics for the song “First Day Out”.
On October 16, 2016, he was released from Michigan prison and he released “First Day Out” that day. The song details the struggles Grizzley faced throughout his life, especially being in and out of the prison system and finally making it out for good.
He talks about how people switched up on him once got locked up and how they are hitting him up now that he has become famous. The song definitely has a similar vibe to Meek Mill’s hit song “Dreams and Nightmares”.
“First Day Out” has been well received by the public and celebrities alike. From one song alone, Grizz received cosigns from Chris Brown, Trey Songz, LeBron James, and Jay-Z.
Chris Brown and Trey Songz brought out Tee Grizzley to perform at the Joe Louis Arena last year and the crowd went absolutely crazy. There’s no doubt the dude is a star.
He can also thank LeBron for getting his song to the next level. Once people heard him singing over the lyrics, they had to find out what that track was and sure enough that’s the boy Tee Grizzley. He told TMZ during the height of his glo up,
“LeBron James has tripled my song sales after his gym session.”
LeBron’s cosign was exactly what Grizzley needed to catapult his song to the top of the charts.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YxwpEK-RFM
Tee Grizzley also received a cosign from a true legend in the rap game, Jay-Z.
Hov tweeted about the Detroit artist saying that Tee Grizzley inspired the creation of 4:44.
Jay even talked about Grizz in an interview saying,
“I hear his music and I believe his story, people don’t realize how difficult that is, you can put words together and that’s fine but there a million zillion words out there you can make up any story but when someone story resonates with you that’s hard to do. You can’t just rap about this fantastic tale of like foreigns and I jump on a plane.”
To get a cosign from any established artist in the industry today is an achievement in itself but to get the respect of Hov speaks volumes of Tee Grizzley’s talent and promise for the future.
https://cl.ly/223J3H3V0243
Tee Grizzley has already released an album called My Moment and others singles “From the D to the A” and “Second Day Out”, which all go hard. If you haven’t listened to them go check them out on any music streaming service.
Pretty much all of his tracks bang and he even has a collab tape with Lil Durk, called Bloodas, that’s straight fire. We can’t wait to hear what Tee drops in 2018.
Saaheem Valdery, also known by the rap name SahBabii, is a 22-year-old rapper from Chicago that has risen within the ranks with his hit “Pull Up With Ah Stick.” His hit song literally blew up overnight as millions of people were posting themselves singing along to the song on social media.
The music video for the track currently has 37 million views on YouTube and counting. It’ received such a positive response that Young Thug ended up reaching out to SahBabii and ended up flying him out to London a week later while he was on tour with Drake.
This led to Young Thug remixing “Pull Up With a Stick” which was has garnered around 1.5 million views. SahBabii even had T-Pain and Fetty Wap remix his song too.
SahBabii is originally from the Wentworth Gardens projects in southside of Chicago but his family ended up moving to Atlanta’s Ninth Ward in 2010 when he was only 13. Many young kids in the neighborhood that he was from had began pursuing rap seriously at the time and that inspired him to start his own movement.
It was there in Atlanta that his creative spark was found and his interest for music peaked. His brother, who is known as T3, had been creating music for over 11 years and he served as SahBabii’s musical influence and his mentor. He also engineered and produces most of Sah’s songs. Hell he’s even featured on them.
SahBabii does not practice any religion, but he says that he currently seeks knowledge. Sah is known for starting his own movement called Unknownism, which means to “seek the truth in everything that you are doing.”
Uknownism is represented with an upside down cross that has a 6 on 3 sides of the cross. Each side stands for six protons, six electrons, and six neutrons which is what makes carbon and carbon helps produce melanin.
SahBabii originally learned about this from his Uncle Gary who is a Freemason. He is now very stout believer in Uknownism and even got a tattoo of an upside down cross with three sixes on the tap part of the cross. He’s received a lot of backlash for his beliefs from the general public.
Lil Uzi Vert has also received backlash as well for having upside down crosses on stage and creating songs like “444+222 = 666”.
Sah and Uzi got into a bit of a Instagram spat with Offset from Migos saying “Stop all that demon worshipping 666 shit stand with God”.
Eventually the whole situation cooled off and SahBabii deleted his posts against the Migos to keep things positive on his Instagram.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xk4NXEpmnyc
The Chicago rapper has also talked about the tolls of trying to make it in the industry and how before he made “Pull Up With Ah Stick.”
He was suffering from depression because his music was nowhere near what he wanted it to be, to the point where his hair was falling out.
Fortunately, he eventually was able to overcome the rut he was in by staying positive and working constantly. In a interview he said,
“Keep going and don’t get caught up in the materialism where you see people flashing the money and stuff like that on Instagram because it can make you suicidal and angry. Just stay positive.”
SahBabii is constantly pushing a positive vibe and you can hear even in his music. “Pull Up With Ah Stick” has a catchy, upbeat tempo and he dropped a song called “Marsupial Superstars” featuring his brother T3 which depicts it perfectly.
The video has close to 600,000 views and he recently released the music video for it and is absolutely crazy, from the visuals, and the crazy edits. He has recently released an album called S.A.N.D.A.S and has plans to go on tour later this year.
Despite all of the fame SahBabii has not switched up on the people that got him to the position he is in now. He even stated in an interview “I still record in my brothers room”. SahBabii currently lives with his father, mother, and brother.
They whole family operates like a well-oiled machine. Everyone knows their role and they do not overstep each other. T3 stated in a FADER documentary,
“We most definitely operate like a family business. My dad is like the visionary he is also the manager, my mom is more administrative like, sending out emails, looking things up. Me, I’m more like the workhorse, I’m the get it done guy and then Sah is the artist.”
SahBabii has a solid team around him. There’s no telling how far he could go.
Lil Skies is a 23-year-old rapper that’s on the come up with hit songs “Red Roses” and “Nowadays.” He recently received the cosign from LiL Uzi Vert and was invited to tour with him on his “Very Uzi Christmas” tour.
His music has a very different sound from what’s currently out right now — it’s very upbeat but chill at the same time. Lil Skies is from Wayne’s World, Pennsylvania and he is an avid weed smoker but unlike a lot of SoundCloud rappers in today’s scene, he doesn’t promote the use of hard drugs like molly, Xanax, Percocets, and Oxycontin.
Instead he advocates that people should just stick smoking loud instead.
Lil Skies started recording music at the early age of four and has not stopped since. His father got him into the music and he’s been in love with it ever since.
Growing up in a rural PA town, there wasn’t much of a rap scene for him to draw inspiration from. In an interview with Highsnobiety he said,
“Yeah, we don’t have nothing. We don’t have a rap scene. We don’t have a fashion scene. We don’t have none of that shit. I’m definitely on back road shit for real.”
As a kid, he looked up to Lil Wayne and 50 Cent. Later he got into fellow Pennsylvania natives Mac Miller and Wiz Khalifa but now says he draws a lot of the same energy as Travis Scott.
Thanks to social media, he was able to break out and show the world what he had. Skies continued to explain how the internet helped launch his career saying,
“I use it as an outlet to just give my music to the world, and that was my outlet of getting out of this small town that I was in.”
He recently released a video for “Nowadays” featuring Landon Cube and directed by Cole Bennet of Lyrical Lemonade which now has over 8 million views in just a week.
The song talks about how they are both dealing with their newfound fame and how it’s affecting both of their lives. They don’t know who to trust anymore and it’s a real look into what shit is like for kids like them. The hook goes:
Nowadays I’m too cool for a girlfriend Nowadays I don’t know when the world spins Live your life like we die when the world ends So it’s alright every time we fuckin’ break a sin Nowadays shit’s not the same Life switch lanes, now these hoes act strange
Lil Skies also has some bangers the has yet to make music videos for like “Lust.” In the song he sings on the hook and reveals that he’s found a lot more lust rather than love on his journey through success so far.
He sings about the girls he’s had coming through to his crib to smoke and chill but he realizes that they only want him for his clout and not for who he actually is.
Skies gets straight to the bag and he doesn’t care about the people saying that he switched up on them. All he’s focused on is making great music, smoking his loud and making money all while chasing his dreams.
His music video for “Red Roses” has gotten the most traction on YouTube with 17 million views so far and counting. The track talks about how people who he once trusted ended up betraying him and how he lost trust with people overall in his life.
In the track he explains how that now his music career is taking off, people either turn their back on him or hit him up because he’s poppin’.
He repeatedly says on the song that he refuses to give handouts to people. He talks about how if he dies he wants to buried with red roses, some art and Backwoods so that he can spark one with God himself. He goes off on the track saying:
Red roses on my grave, bury me with art And with some Backwoods and a lighter just so I could spark If you looking for a handout get the fuck out my face I don’t care about no friends because they all were just fake
As of right now Lil Skies does not have an album out but he most certainly is working on it because he is constantly putting out music.
So what’s next for Lil Skies? In an interview with Highsnobiety he said,
“Definitely a music video, whole bunch of music videos. A lot of new music. I got a mixtape coming early January, ‘Life of a Dark Rose’. Hopefully a Lil Skies tour early 2018. I’m trying to do a overseas tour too.”
If he’s already getting invited to tour with Uzi in the short time he’s been making music, then he’s definitely well on his way to becoming one of the next big rap stars of this generation. He just needs to stay true to himself and keep doing what he’s doing.
We can’t wait to see what he does in future and where his music will take him.
