How Rick Ross created a cash empire by franchising Wingstop

Rick Ross has mastered the art of hustling and bossing up.

Rozay understands the value of a winning formula and knows that when he attaches his name to something, anything is possible. That’s why he had the ingenious idea to begin franchising Wingstops in 2010. Yeah, the lemon pepper spot.

Since then, he’s scaled and created another lane for income that could realistically retire him today if he really wanted to. But if you know anything about Rozay, it’s that he’s far from finished.

Today, he owns over 30 locations and with each benefitting from an extra boost of sales because of his brand name. The real impact he’s having is what he does by pulling up to his stores and connecting with the people.

He’s out here building and giving back to communities with his Wingstops, which is a lot more than most other rappers are doing right now.

In an interview with Forbes, Ross spoke about how organically it all came together saying,

“I just wanted it to be something. The business just grew. It really grew. The community really came out, supported it, and showed us a lot of love.”

Of course it all started with his love for their lemon pepper wings. That’s what got him interested in franchising the first place. This was an idea Ross had early on in his career as he knew that he could do something different if he added his boss touch to it.

Wingstop is now one of the most culturally relevant places to grab food as the Rick Ross effect has transcended to every location. Rappers all throughout the game shout them out and it’s safe to say that this is the perfect example of a brand pushing hip-hop culture the right way.

The craziest part is that even though Ross is busier than ever as he expands his operation, he hasn’t had to compromise the quality of his music at all. His last album Rather You Than Me is another classic and once again proved he’s one of the nicest in the game.

Whatever Rick Ross decides to do next, from liquor to food, should go noticed as he’s proven he has that magic touch when it comes to making something hot. Peep the video above to see what I’m talking about.

The Rock just got a new tattoo with the wildest meaning behind it

Literally anything The Rock does or posts on social media turns into instant world news and should probably be studied in schools.

The world’s busiest man is always dishing out inspiration and giving his fans inside looks into his life and the process that goes into being DJ.

His latest IG post is more of the same as he posted this new bicep sleeve, which covers his old, iconic brahma bull tat.

The explanation of the meaning behind the tat was the wildest part.

Evolution of the bull. After 3 sessions and 22hrs of tattooing with world renowned @NikkoHurtado, the story’s almost done.. Every detail is a reflection of my own personal history. From the cracks and heavy damage in the bone representing life’s hard lessons I’ve learned over the years. Just like scars and wrinkles – I’m so grateful to have ’em because they’re earned. To the horns, not pointing up or out to the side, but pointing straight ahead representing relentless energy and forward progress. The core and anchor of this image is in the eye. Look closely and you’ll find the life, energy, power and you’ll feel the MANA (spirit). The eye tells the story of a disruptive positive energy always ready to dent the universe. Depending on the light and angle, sometimes the energy’s subtle and sometimes it’s glaring. But it’s always alive and ready to disrupt the universe and love and protect my family and all things I love with intense passion and gratitude. Cheers to living, learning, evolving and growing. And to the positive disrupters ready to dent the universe. #EvolutionOfTheBull #TheDisrupter #TheMana #NowLetsBreakOutTheTequila

A post shared by therock (@therock) on

While it’s still a bull, you can clearly see that this shit has evolved.

Just like Dwayne, the bull has transitioned into a new part of it’s career where, regardless of how much he’s accomplished, he’s pushing forward with that same hunger he had when he only had seven cash in his pocket.

Now, there’s a lot of fly shit that was said here, but some of the most interesting points he made about the 22-hour, three session tat was this:

“To the horns, not pointing up or out to the side, but pointing straight ahead representing relentless energy and forward progress.”

Can you imagine how a guy like The Rock is still hustling his ass off like it’s day one all over again? Even after all the millions made and blockbuster hits, he’s still ready for more and pushing his greatness to the next level.

Here he was getting the tattoo done by his guy Nikko Hurtado

You already know this tat hurt like a bitch. Another fly part you gotta peep about the caption was when he went into detail about the eye saying,

“The eye tells the story of a disruptive positive energy always ready to dent the universe.”

That’s exactly what The Rock is doing and this tattoo is a reminder of that everyday.

10 people you see on the New York City subway (Part 3)

Taking the subway may be trash but it’s also the perfect depiction of life in New York.

You literally see (and smell) the city all at once. From the scumbag millionaire to the cracked out homie, people from all walks of life are forced to be in the same underground hell, all just to reach wherever the hell they’re going in life.

The characters we’ve seen in the past truly range from wild to too wild and in this week’s edition of people you see on the NYC subway, we have a special guest.

Facebook comedian Chiseled Adonis gives a very honest, and very New York, guide to navigating and comprehending WTF really went down in the train this week.

From aspiring strippers to drugged out dudes completely off the shits, this week’s people are nothing like last one’s. But that’s what makes NYC the best city in the world after all, right?

At the end of the day these people may have nothing in common but for at least one moment, they are just as sick as anyone else who has to get on the L train.

But no matter what you happen to witness on the train, just never let it represent the city as a whole. Especially for you out-of-towners taking up mad space, rolling 15 deep and shook of everything. NOT EVERYONE IS LIKE THIS. However, everyone is type crazy in a different way.

Nigel Sylvester proves he’s the BMX GOAT with new ‘GO! Dubai’ visuals

Nigel Sylvester is a man on a mission.

The kid from Queens has been going against the grain since he was young, chasing his dreams of riding BMX bikes instead of playing ball like all the other kids in his neighborhood.

Fast forward to today and he’s launched his own brand inspired by its name: Go!.

If you haven’t peeped Nigel’s videos before, he takes viewers on the wildest rides from his perspective and documents all the places BMX has taken him. Peep a clip of the first video in the series that started it all.

So far he’s hit his hometown in New York City, as well as Los Angeles and Tokyo. But his latest project takes his movement to a whole new level.

Last week at the Apple Store in Williamsburg, Brooklyn Sylvester premiered his latest video for “Go! Dubai” in front of a huge turn out of supporters. With an audience of all types of creatives, young BMX riders, a few baddies, and ya boy, Nigel spoke to the people and gave them a real look into his process.

It was definitely a team effort and Nigel assembled some of the best people he knows for the job.

For months his director Harrison Boyce and producer Jaimie Sanchez worked their asses of making all the connections they needed to make, literally through Instagram DM. Their hard work definitely paid off.

He shouted them out and even did a quick tutorial for capturing fire flicks.

Ivan Halpern

“Go! Dubai” isn’t just his most impressive video yet but also shows that Nigel just keeps getting better and perfecting his craft with his series over time.

The beginning scene was already TOO crazy! We even get a preview of where he could be going next in that last scene.

Nigel is able to get more and more access to fly shit, as you can see from the multiple cameos and spots he hits. From the Salt Bae homie to that kid who just wrapped his Ferrari in Supreme, Nigel and his crew left their mark on Dubai and have the video evidence to prove it.

At the end of the day, this was nothing but three people coming together with the same vision to create fire organic content. Considering that no one else is doing shit that even comes close to this, they did their job.

Nigel mentioned at last week’s event that this is only the beginning. They want to hit every city, country, and continent possible. It’s a bold mission but they’re really doing it for the culture.

Besides, there’s nothing better to watch when you’re dumb smacked than these videos!

Now go peep their store if you really fuckin’ with the movement. Check out the video above, and realistically, run it back.

Peep more photos from the premier event below.

Yes Lawd! 8 times Marshawn Lynch kept it too real for the NFL

Marshawn Lynch is back this season and we’ve gotta admit, the NFL really ain’t shit without him.

Not only will he still be a key piece to the Raiders potentially reaching a Super Bowl but what he’s doing for his hometown of Oakland is unrivaled.

If Seahawks fans are tight that he left them, then someone tell Pete Carroll he shoulda ran the ball at the one-yard line!

With that said, we can expect a lot of controversy when it comes to Beast Mode because if history repeats itself, he’s gonna rack up a whole lotta fines this season.

The NFL (or the No Fun League) is notorious for sucking the life out of its players and being an overall unfair system but when it comes to Marshawn, they just aren’t prepared for how real he keeps it.

To put it simply, this man is just about that action and it at the end of the day it doesn’t matter how much they try to tax him. Marshawn is gonna stay true to himself and represent his city of Oakland the best way he knows how.

Sure, that could mean being ratchet, cursing on live TV, and bugging out from time to time but it also means giving back to his community and his fans.

With the Raiders set to move to Vegas in two seasons, Marshawn has the opportunity to truly become an even bigger legend in the city of Oakland than he already is by bringing the city its first Super Bowl championship in the modern era.

If he can do that, you can expect Marshawn statues throughout The Bay, babies being named Beast Mode, and probably a key to the city or some shit.

Come to think of it, he’s already done enough to earn all that. He just has to go out there and remind everybody he’s about that action, boss. Peep the eight times Marshawn Lynch kept it TOO real for the NFL above.

Mind of the Mamba: How Kobe Bryant turned himself into a businessman

It’s only been one year since Kobe retired and realistically, it seems like it’s been forever.

That epic night he dropped 60 and walked away like one of the legends of our time was a great moments in recent sports memory.

After a 20-year career with five NBA titles and a record $680 million in career earnings according to Forbes, you would think this man would be resting up and laying back for the rest of his life. But you’re wrong. This is the mamba we’re talking about.

Just last summer Kobe announced he was starting up a $100 million investment fund with Jeff Stibel focusing on tech, media and data companies called Bryant Stibel. They initially reported that this deal would last over the course of a “few years” and weren’t seeking any outside investors. But what does this all really mean?

According to Stibel, the mission for this partnership is to help solve real problems and not just use Kobe’s name to help a brand promote their product.

“We don’t want to be in the business of investing in companies so someone can use Kobe as an endorser. That’s not interesting. The point is to add real value.”

Not many people might’ve known about Kobe’s business side beforehand. But this is something he’s been low key plotting for some time now. Aside from this he also has Kobe Inc., which he started in 2014 for his private investments, mostly within the sports realm, including the Body Armor partnership he made with the Lakers to set the record for single day arena merchandise sales with $1.2 million.

In an interview with CNBC’s “Squawk On The Street” he said,

“This is one of my passions. We are one gear, 100 percent laser-focused, and here we go.”

Off the jump Bryant Stibel invested into 13 companies including Alibaba, The Players Tribune, and LegalZoom. As of today they now invest in 15 companies, according to Crunch Base.

With two of these companies already acquired, and a few others pretty prominent in their respective spaces, Kobe and Stibel have also turned their attention to newer ventures like the t-shirt company Represent and VIPKid, a portal that provides an American school experience to children in China.

With all of their investments taking off at different stages of the business, what is really pushing Kobe to keep digging deeper? I mean what really inspires a man who already made a fortune playing basketball to learn a whole new game? Kobe told CNBC,

“If you really want to create something that last generations, you have to help inspire the next generation, and they create something great, and then that generation will inspire the one behind them, right? And that’s when you create something forever. And that’s what’s most beautiful.”

Kobe is all about innovating and helping new and exciting companies find their footing in their various industries. He’s always had a knack for entrepreneurship, but it wasn’t until the later years of his career when he really began thinking of the possibilities. Now Mamba’s got all the time (and capital) in the world to do whatever he wants.

In 2013, a major achilles injury made Kobe realize he was truly at the end of his career and it was time to start thinking of things outside of basketball. He told ESPN,

“I have always had ideas and always had a vision of where I wanted to go going back to 2000, but they are just ideas. Now, once the Achilles injury took place, I’m sitting at home for months not moving, a couple things set in. One is that there is only so many Modern Family episodes a person can watch. And then two, what do I do now?”

Considering how competitive Kobe was in his 20 years in the NBA, you already know he’s taking that same drive and determination into the world of business. He’s methodical, loves studying his competition, and has that killer instinct.

We’re all waiting to see your next move, Mamba.

5 life lessons from Chappelle’s Show that are still relevant today

When Dave Chappelle started Chappelle’s Show in early 2003, nobody could’ve predicted that it would become an earth-shattering success that would change comedy forever. Not even Dave.

14 years later, a lot has changed but one thing stays the same: these skits are some of the most hilarious and relevant shits out there.

Dave Chappelle proved that he was not only a true mastermind of comedy but that he understands the psychology of delivering truly funny shit that no one else can.

Unfortunately for Dave, he also kept it way too real and had to walk away from it all.

But now that he’s starting to pop back up in the spotlight, signing a $60 million Netflix deal and doing 10 shows at Radio City in New York starting next month, it’s time we dive back into the mind that low key shaped an entire generation.

As wild as they were, Chappelle’s Show skits were truly life lessons. All of the subject matter had a deeper meaning behind it. In fact, most of these stories were based off real events, or just real life shit.

Poking fun at race and politics is a slippery slope and not all comedians can pull it off, but Chappelle’s Show did it in a way that was so hotboy, it was revolutionary.

No doubt, there will never be another show quite like it and while Key and Peele tried to re-emulate the format and subject matter, no one is touching Dave when it comes to this shit.

Shout out to Dave Chappelle for always keeping shit funky and for creating life lessons over a decade ago that this generation, and generations to come, will be studying.

The Rock and Siri just teamed up for the most insane movie ad ever

There’s only one thing that The Rock makes more than anyone else: moves.

Whether it’s season three of HBO’s #1 rated half hour show Ballers (which is filled with life lessons), or inspiring the millions (and millions) of people who follow him on Instagram, you can always expect only next level shit from DJ.

His latest project doesn’t disappoint either as he started teasing this straight to YouTube movie with none other than… Siri?

Only the People’s Champ can team up with a company like Apple to create what is quite literally one of the wildest ads we’ve ever seen for anything.

The three-minute and 45 second short film is action packed from beginning to end showing us what life is really like for the busiest man in the world.

You get to see Dwayne in his element, literally being in multiple places at all times, showing off his random ass talents, and never being late to shit.

I don’t even wanna know how much bread went into making this thing, but you already know this is gonna convert the iPhone sales! It just dropped this morning. Peep it below!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufBLI6bB9sg

If there’s one thing we know about The Rock, it’s that everything he does has a purpose.

And if you watched that episode of Ballers last night, then you saw three product placements for Under Armour in the first five minutes. Sheesh!

The business of being Dwayne Johnson is a lit one. Who else is on the same level as Apple and can make their shit even more poppin’? You already know it’s Dwayne.

5 real life lessons we learned from The Rock on HBO’s Ballers

HBO’s Ballers kicks off season three this Sunday and if you’ve been craving some ratchet NFL storylines, you already know The Rock got you covered.

Through two seasons of the show it’s safe to say that it’s truly one of the most lit series on television — literally just 30 minutes of some fly shit every week! But it’s also much more than that. There’s some real shit to takeaway here.

From the hard work during the offseason to the partying and temptations off the field, we learn real life lessons about spending money and making savvy, or boneheaded, business decisions like many athletes do.

The Rock’s character, retired NFL legend turned pro athlete money manager Spencer Strasmore, is one of the most humanizing roles DJ has ever played — a man dealing with a lifetime of mistakes trying to make sure the good friends he mentors don’t do the same.

The parallels between everything he does during this rebirth and all the real life situations he deals with working with NFL players are spot on. Not only are you getting to witness the true baller lifestyle, but you get to see what the day to day mindset is like for a pro athlete in 2017.

Whether it’s guys not knowing how to deal with their family after becoming the main provider or going through the feeling of getting old and washed, you don’t have to be in the league to relate with it.

With season three set to tie in a Las Vegas franchise storyline, you can expect even more of these pivotal life lessons that will blow your mind. Every NFL rookie should be tuning in every Sunday to study this shit.

Peep the video above for the 5 real life lessons we learned from HBO’s Ballers. You’ll be glad you did fam.

Conor McGregor is bringing out the petty in Floyd Mayweather again

Yesterday in LA, Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor finally met face-to-face in the first of four press conferences leading up to their fight on August 26th.

It was pretty much what everybody expected. Conor was violating Floyd off the jump, prancing around in his custom suit and firing off mad Irish expletives.

Mayweather on the other hand was looking completely sick at first but by the end of the press conference, one thing was for certain: the old Floyd is back.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6WaGr4Ee0Q

Not the old Floyd from 20, 10, five or even two years ago in the ring. The man is 40 and his best boxing days are well behind him. I’m talking about that gully kid from Grand Rapids who used to disrespect his opponents similar to the way Conor does today.

Lately, Mayweather has been a little more subdued and low key. He’s been in the game long enough to not let things get to him. But then he met Conor McGregor.

If you don’t remember, Floyd used to always take shit to the next level.

Remember when he pulled up to the De La Hoya fight in a sombrero?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzscDz3iKf8

Or when he tweeted this meme about Manny Pacquiao?

But what about when he violated an entourage member for fucking up his coffee?

Things got real when Floyd disrespected his own father on camera.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDJoI0bXl3Q

What about when Larry Merchant told him he’d kick his ass if he were 50 years younger?

As you can see this is a guy who can go toe-to-toe with Conor McGregor.

When it comes to petty, shit talking, and just overall being disrespectful, I might even give Floyd the edge here.

If one thing is for certain, it’s that things are only going to get uglier as they hit three more cities, including Brooklyn at the Barclays Center, before their big fight.

It seems that Floyd Mayweather has finally met his match when it comes to shit talking.

Check out the full press conference here:
