Gabrielle Union defends all men who like to have their booty eaten too

Jhene Aiko walked so Gabrielle Union could run.

The ass eating conversation that was inspired by Aiko’s “eat the booty like groceries” line from the Summer 2014 smash “Post To Be” has now taken on new life thanks to 44-year-old actress, and wife of Dwyane Wade, who spoke on eating ass this past weekend.

The Being Mary Jane star stopped by ‘Sway In The Morning‘ to promote her new memoir, We’re Going To Need More Wine, where receptivity in the bedroom became the center of discussion.

In response to the idea that most men do like their butt eaten, Union responded:

“That’s what they’re saying but that’s not what’s happening.”

As you can imagine, Union’s quotes had the internet in shambles this past Friday.

https://twitter.com/DragonflyJonez/status/921443451044007938?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw

Union told ‘The Breakfast Club’,

“Listen, it’s all about equality and a lot of times especially women feel like I’m going to lose him if I don’t do XYZ and there’s never any thought to the woman enjoying, or having any expectation of enjoying sex. I’m just a vessel for somebody else’s sexual gratification, and we have to take that back. We have to demand equality everywhere.”

Gab had Twitter going up, but also ended up making room for a fruitful conversation on sex positivity.

Besides, Gabrielle never shies away from any topic, although her hubby may be slightly sick by her airing their business.

At the end of the day it’s all about what you’re comfortable with. Conversations like these, where we dispel the notion that someone is wrong or weird for doing what they love, is how more people end up satisfied in bed.

So props to Union for that.

If you’re a man out there that enjoys a little rim action from time to time, do you. Live your best life, King. Don’t let society prevent you from getting whatever pleasure you want.

Is he officially washed? D Wade will come off the bench for first time ever

‘Tis the season of super teams. The Golden State Warriors, Minnesota Timberwolves, Oklahoma City Thunder, and the Cleveland Cavaliers are all stacked with at least three players who have made an All-NBA list, making this season the first of its kind.

Who would have known that the 2007 trade that sent Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen to the Boston Celtics would have led to this?

But if the assembling of super teams has taught us anything, it’s that just because you have the talent, that doesn’t mean it will come together (2010 Miami Heat, 2013 Brooklyn Nets, 2013 Lakers are just a few examples).

So it should be no surprise that Dwyane Wade, a 10-time all-NBA, 3-time champion, and MVP of the 2006 Finals, decided that he wants to come off the bench for the first time in his career.

Miami Heat Reaction GIF by NBA - Find & Share on GIPHY

Ty Lue told reporters today that Wade came to him personally to bench himself, meaning JR Smith will return to the starting lineup.

The Cavaliers’ new Kyrie-less starting lineup has failed to gel with Wade in the starting lineup. Through the first three games, the 14-year vet has been averaging 5.7 points and 3.3 assists in 23.7 minutes per game, shooting 28 percent from the floor.

In his words, he’s been having difficulty finding his rhythm.

The Cavaliers aren’t the only super team struggling right now.

The defending NBA Champion Golden State Warriors are 1-2, losing their home opener and an away game in Memphis where two-time MVP Stephen Curry got so frustrated, he threw his mouthpiece and was ejected from the game.

The 82-game season is definitely a slow grind. It will be interesting to see which teams figure it out and which fail miserably.

These $850 cooked Balenciagas are making ugly kicks wavy again

Ugly is subjective. What looks good to one individual may be atrocious to another and what the next person can’t stand, someone else would wait hours in line for.

But when it comes to Balenciaga’s $850 Triple S Sneakers, there is no debate — them things ugly.

When I look at the Triple S, refrigerators, kleenex boxes, and countless other rectangular objects from around the household begin to flood my mind. The chunky shoe is accented by tan, green, and yellow colors, adding to the grandpa aesthetic — a clear goal for the designer.

Think if the ugliest sweater from the wackest thrift store in your neighborhood were a shoe. That would be the Triple S.

But according to 25-year old actor Myles Hart, who is also big in the fashion world,  that’s the objective. Here told WSJ,

“When someone says ‘That’s an ugly shoe,’ I’m like, yes, you’re correct, that’s the point,”

And… I’m not gonna lie. I think I get it.

Launched late last month, the Triple S’s main functionality is the attention it draws. The purposefully unattractive sneakers are the latest bit of “look-at-me” trend that has been popular on the runways.

Put a pair of the Triple S’s on and you now have an audience to feature the rest of your outfit for. Not to mention the color combinations provide you with more creative freedom in your wardrobe.

It’s a trend that’s saturated the entire sneaker game, and I see how it could catch on.

“Chunky” is a $510 priced shoe from Acne, which has its design given away in the shoe name.

And the new Kanye West 700 “Wave Runner” will give your closet some flair for about $300.

They’re reminiscent of the “boorish” collection from Mr. Borgstrom (a collection of sneakers that includes neo-goth designer Rick Owens’s ankle-high dunks and the Ozweego, a collaboration between Belgian designer Raf Simons and Adidas released in 2013).

Big, clunky, and colorful is not typically what you want, until it’s packaged in the right way. When you layer up for the fall months, having a blocky shoe with color adds a dynamic to whatever you put together.

“People with a lot of visibility wear ugly sneakers and it’s a trickle down effect,” said Chris Green to WSJ. Chris is the divisional merchandise manager of New York boutique Totokaelo, a purveyor of maximized sneakers from Acne, Balenciaga, and Rick Owens.

That suburban dad running sneaker look that Under Armor and Curry failed at show a mass market move towards big sneakers. “Next year’s Adidas’ offerings are all chunky and big,” said Mr. Green.

Off first glance you most certainly won’t see the vision; hell, maybe you never will.

Just don’t be surprised when you start seeing everyone rock their best nursing home kicks this season.

Three things we learned Kobe Bryant, the businessman, hates

It was the end of an era that will be a remembered forever when Kobe “Bean” Bryant retired. The five-time NBA Champion was the face of the league for a solid decade.

So naturally when he retired, he needed a place for his competitive edge.

Thus business savvy mamba was born.

In his new career as a businessman, investor, and entrepreneur, BodyArmor was one of his first projects. While promoting the replenishing supplement Thursday, he sat down with CNBC and ended up discussing a little bit of everything.

As always, Kobe voiced some strong opinions and wasn’t afraid to let heat some go. Fortunately for us, we learned some things that Kobe absolutely hates.

Threats To Free Speech

Being that the sports world has been deep in the muddy political waters more so than it has in a while, Kobe was bound for to have an opinion.

Trump, who demanded NFL players “respect” the flag by standing during the national anthem while calling for fans to boycott the league until teams do something, has also come at the NBA’s biggest stars.

Kobe didn’t shy at a chance to share his piece.

“I think there’s a time where you stand up and you make your point, and then after that you go about the business of not having it deter from playing the games,” Bryant told CNBC this week. “You still have to play a game, right?”

He went on to say that “it’s important to make a statement” and that it can continue in many different ways. “It’s important to respect the value our country and great nation have been built on, which is freedom of speech.”

Corruption in College Basketball

Being that he was a pro-baller and is now a businessman, the NCAA was a subject Kobe had multiple insights about.

When talking to CNBC he spoke on the government’s investigation and arrests related to bribery in NCAA basketball programs.

“Whether it’s a few bad guys or more, it’s not OK, either way you look at it,” Bryant said.

“I think we have to do a better job in figuring out how we protect youth sports across the board. Because that also feeds into their development, not as athletes but also as people.”

Poor Money Management

Another gem Bryant happened to drop was on managing money.

He opened up about one of his biggest regrets when it comes to money and gave tips for rising stars who are coming into their first big paychecks.

“You don’t give handouts to the people you’re close with,” Bryant said.

He instead advised people who want to help friends and family to use their own money to put people, “In a position to learn and better themselves.”

Personally, I love to hear Kobe’s insight on… everything. Hopefully, he will be in a space where we can tune in to his commentary on a regular basis.

Kevin Hart flips his cheating scandal into a joke to promote his new tour

Even the best get knocked down.

What makes them great and what separates them from everyone else, however, is that they always get back up. So it’s no surprise that Kevin Hart has taken a few jabs at himself in the trailer for his upcoming Irresponsible tour.

If you didn’t know, a video appeared of Kevin Hart and Montia Sabbag getting really close in Vegas back in September. At the end of the video there was a message demanding money from the comedian.

Because it was extortion and because Kevin and his lawyers got ahead of it, the demands did not have to be followed and the video remained unleaked. The only true damage besides his reputation was Hart’s relationship with his pregnant wife Eniko, to whom he publicly apologized.

The joke in the promo goes:

“Give me one example of me being irresponsible,” Kevin says in the promo, to five other versions of himself. “Boy, we talking about you in that car with that girl in Miami.” Where the lead Kevin responds, “I don’t even know who she is!” Another Kevin character pipes in with, “What about Las Vegas,” where Kevin then yells back, “Fuck you man!”

Lisa Bloom, who was hired by Montia to represent her, says this video is a clear slap in the face suggesting that Kevin was trying to make money off of the situation.

TMZ reports that both Montia and Lisa think that Kevin using the scandal for his tour teaser is “very distasteful.” Bloom said:

“This stuff takes a toll mentally and physically, and now with this tour it’s like this whole thing was a joke.”

Kevin Hart and his wife are still together as she is expecting his next child. He seems unscathed from the whole situation and winning, still. Props.

Everybody Loves Beast Mode: Why Marshawn Lynch is so damn marketable

Marshawn Lynch has a television show.

The Bay Area native and Oakland Raider teamed up with Bleacher Report and Facebook to form No Script, which B/R describes as a ‘show about Marshawn Lynch having a show.’

The concept is completely based around Lynch’s personality. They put the Pro Bowl running back in the craziest situations and just film his reactions. That’s the meat of the show: Beast Mode being Beast Mode. And it’s genius.

Someone at B/R must have had their ears open because the web has literally been begging for this. Because, let’s face it: Marshawn Lynch is incredibly marketable.

Beyond his head-first running style that got him his nickname to his service back to his community, he has an appeal that reaches across a diverse platform.

We all should have seen it coming. Ghost riding the IR cart back when Beast Mode was at Cal should have been an indication of the type of character he was.

But, “I’m just here so I won’t get fined” was my introduction to the personality that is Marshawn Lynch.

The one-liner became his defense mechanism in the face of media leading up to Super Bowl XLIX two years ago after facing up to $50,000 in fines if he did not ‘make himself available’ to the media.

So Marshawn found a loophole.

Lynch stayed at his designated podium for 4 minutes, 51 seconds. At the 4:51 mark, he said “time,” stood up, and walked away from the microphone.

Instantly, I was a fan. Not only because it was defiant and rebellious but because he refused to let his job control every aspect of who he was.

His comfortability in his self is inspiring. The kid had moxie and I wasn’t the only one who thought so.

Ever since that Super Bowl, my eyes were opened. There was much more to this man from Oakland, California with the grill, long locks, and aggressive running style.

What I, and what advertisers apparently, saw was someone able to capture the appeal of regular day people everywhere, a gift that stems from how he handles things with ease and authenticity.

After that Super Bowl — when the Seahawks didn’t give it to him at the one-yard line for the win — Lynch decided to retire. Little did we know that we’d get more Marshawn because of it.

That following February, while joining several pro football players with American Football Without Barriers, videos surfaced of Lynch dancing on a camel and, later, visiting a children’s hospital and hooping with students.

Then, later that September, Lynch appeared on Running Wild with Bear Grylls where Lynch visits the Corsican Mountains in France for two days.

In the episode, Lynch discusses his social welfare work with Grylls and they hunt pig.

https://youtu.be/Whoid76nn3k

That following year in January, Lynch visited Paisley, Scotland. This time the world got to see him doing wheelies and narrowly avoiding buses.

During his Scotland visit, he also spread Skittles cheer in Houston, Scotland ahead of the Super Bowl (in Houston, Texas). He even declared himself a “bagpiper.”

As Lynch became available to the public eye — especially after being so limited at media day — people began to fall in love with the real person they saw.

He had personality, charm, and a way of connecting with people of all walks of life. It’s why he’s so marketable and it’s certainly why Bleacher Report and Facebook did a deal.

Even now that he’s back with his hometown Raiders, who have been struggling (2-4)  due to injuries at quarterback, Marshawn still adds his flair, dancing, all while getting hyphy on the sidelines.

In an organization known as the No Fun League, Marshawn is an example of not letting ‘the shield’ weigh you down.

And few know that Lych has been sitting for the National anthem for 11 years and has spoken out in support of Kaepernick.

It’s kinda hard not to fuck with him.

The second episode of No Script dropped on Facebook today. Go check it out and see what other crazy things they have Marshawn do.

Why it’s the perfect time for NBA players to use their platform to protest

I would say the NBA season is back — and, technically it is — but for me, it never left.

Summer league in Vegas, pro-am’s, preseason, and the blockbuster trades kept me fully engaged more than I could have hoped. And it all comes together tonight.

The Boston Celtics visit the defending Eastern Conference champion Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Houston Rockets go out to the Bay Area to face the reigning NBA champion Golden State Warriors.

There are too many storylines to know where to start.

Will LeBron play or will he hold off on the dramatics of facing former teammate Kyrie on the excuse of his ankle? How will Harden and Paul match up against the defending champs? Is Derrick Rose back in MVP form?

But there’s one storyline in particular that holds a little more weight: what the athletes will do during the anthem.

As much as we want to separate sports and politics, they’ve been intertwined with each other and instrumental in the fight against racial injustice for years.

It’s not always comfortable, but it serves a purpose. And right now sports and politics are at a head like no time before.

President Trump took time out his schedule to issue a full-on verbal assault on knee-taking NFL players during a speech in Huntsville. He called any player who knelt during the anthem a “son of a bitch” and said league owners should fire any offender.

This of course stems from the NFL blackballing Colin Kaepernick after he decided to quietly kneel during the national anthem to bring awareness to the disproportionate rate that Black lives are taken by police officers in this country.

But now that the President has taken the issue personally it’s caused a reaction that’s rippled across the sports world.

On one hand, it’s become an act of solidarity among players in other sports to stand up to Trump by taking a knee, but on the other, it’s made some owners tighten policy.

U.S. national team star Megan Rapinoe became the first soccer player to kneel. Oakland Athletics catcher Bruce Maxwell became the first Major League Baseball player to kneel, and Tampa Bay Lightning player J.T. Brown became the first NHL player to protest police brutality during the national anthem.

But Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones banned his players from kneeling, saying players who “disrespect the flag,” won’t take the field.

“…If there is anything that is disrespectful to the flag then we will not play,” Jones said to The Dallas Morning News.

There is work still to be done.

Despite league commissioner Adam Silver’s memo back in September stating that protesting was against league rules, the NBA has been known as the most progressive league in the country.

Three years ago, then-Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling was ousted after an audio tape of him making racist remarks was revealed.

Two years ago you saw the likes of Kobe, Derrick Rose, Kevin Garnett, and others wearing “I Can’t Breathe” shirts, which is more than any NFL player did.

Not to mention 35.1 percent of “professional positions” held in Silver’s office are held by people of color and 38.8 percent by women, according to the NBA. That’s the highest in pro sports, by far.

And although Adam Silver is right —  the rulebook indeed states NBA players must “stand and line up in a dignified posture” during the anthem — it’s up to the NBA players to use their power to stand up to that rule.

There are some indications that they might.

J.R. Smith did not take kindly to Silver’s statements and when asked if he’d protest the anthem, LeBron said his voice is more important than his knee, and to his defense, he’s been vocal as anyone in his position.

The NBA players should take a knee in solidarity to show the President that he has no choice but to take seriously the issues affecting the African American community.

Being that the NBA is majority black, the reigning NBA Champions have decided to skip the White House visit, and the popularity around the sport is at an all-time high, this has to be the time for NBA stars to take a stand.

Despite Jerry Jone’s decree, the NFL announced it has no plans to force players to stand during the national anthem. This establishes a precedent for the NBA players to start a strike of their own.

Kneel, lock arms, or sit, there must be a continued effort made to carry on the burden the NFL players and even some ESPN commentators have carried in order for these messages to be heard.

This season is shaping up to be one of the most exciting in years, I’m just hoping it’s one of the most impactful, too.

Gucci’s getting married: How Guwop’s growth shows the other side of hip-hop

Gucci Mane is officially getting out the game. The 1017 Bricksquad president proposed to Keyshia Ka’oir with a $500,000 ring at an Atlanta Hawks NBA game last year and is tying the knot tomorrow on October 17, 2017.

It’s quite special to see how it’s all come together for Roderick Davis.

He just dropped his album, Mr. Davis, this past Friday (his second of the year), in mid-September he became an author, releasing The Autobiography of Gucci Mane, and now he’s having a grand wedding.

It’s funny because people love to peg hip-hop as this morally corrupt culture ran by barbarians or something.

Just recently, while explaining her return back to her rock and country roots in an expansive interview with Billboard, Miley Cyrus said that she favors artists like Kendrick because it’s not like the “come sit on my dick, suck on my cock” stuff that pushed her out of the hip-hop genre.

“It was too much ‘Lamborghini, got my Rolex, got a girl on my cock’ – I am so not that.” she said.

And that’s the image that she, and many others, perpetuate about hip-hop — one of irresponsibility, drugs, violence, and moral corruption.

That’s why people were shocked to find out that hip-hop had fewer drug references than any other music genre and that country music referenced marijuana more than hip-hop.

And it doesn’t matter what level of success you have either, the media has always held the hip-hop community to an unfair standard, regardless of how accomplished they are.

Tomi Lahren stirred the Beyhive when she came for Beyoncé’s Super Bowl performance and brought Jay Z into the bashing.

“Your husband was a drug dealer. For fourteen years, he sold crack cocaine. Talk about protecting black neighborhoods? Start at home,” the TV host said.

The truth of the matter is that yes, hip-hop is an instrument for many to document the experiences they’ve had, experiences that aren’t always the prettiest due to circumstances out their control.

And that’s what make’s hip-hop great: you’re getting expressions from regions all over the world in the rawest form. We get a front row seat to the evolution of these artists as they begin to see a world less limited, which in turn inspires us to want to see more, too.

Gucci has murdered someone before (in self defense). Now, he’s chopping it up with Malcolm Gladwell and Beyonce and has a song titled “Changed”.

And change he has. His evolution has been documented, coming from a life of drug addiction and violence to being completely sober and having a successful music career afterward.

The Davis’s wedding will be branded as The Mane Event live on BET.

This is obviously great for Gucci and Keyshia but it also shows another side of hip-hop, a side of growth.

Rap gave Gucci the opportunity to have a life after prison, see the world, and live comfortably apart from how he moved previously.

Now I’m not saying make Gucci and Keyshia relationship goals or am I assuming that they have a perfect relationship — that’s impossible to truly know. But to see someone such as Gucci have the desire to pursue an honest monogamous relationship is good to see.

You get a little bit of everything from hip-hop — the people who are engrossed in it know that without saying. With all the ratchet, it’s only right that Gucci brings a little righteous to the table.

With Rihanna, The Weeknd, Selena Gomez, Pharrell, Diddy, Rick Ross, Monica, Trina, Migos, and Solange rumored to attend it’s sure to be an over the top event.

And for the man with an ice cream cone tattooed on his face, I expect nothing less.

Nipsey Hussle is jumping ahead of the game by investing in Cyptocurrency

You may not see not Nipsey Hussle all over the Billboard charts, blowing up on your social media feed or on any of those hip-hop dramas on television but that doesn’t mean he’s sitting on his ass. In fact, he may just be the next great hip-hop mogul.

In late August Nips announced on his Instagram that he has partnered with Follow Coin — an Amsterdam-based cryptocurrency company.

Cryptocurrency is digital cash that takes on the form of data that’s primarily used online and that’s also currently in very high demand.

The Compton emcee is another example of rappers investing their money and the growing appeal of business acumen in hip-hop.

You’ve probably heard of BitCoin or at least whispers of it — cryptocurrency is in that same vein.

What separates Follow Coin from their competitors, according to their site, is their vision.

“Our goal is to lower the barriers of crypto investment markets by providing tools and services that make interacting, handling and trading crypto coins easy,” it reads. “For a lot of people that are new to the world of cryptocurrency it is often difficult to know when to buy which coin. Now Follow Coin is here to help you out.”

For $250, anyone can invest into the company’s second round of pre-ICO until August 30. This is just one of Hussle’s many hustles. He’s recently invested and relaunched Los Angeles roller rink World on Wheels.

Joe Budden opens up about mental health and his multiple suicide attempts

This past Tuesday was Mental Health Awareness Day — which was established in hopes of shedding light on mental illness and to provide the resources needed to help.

Artists from Katy Perry to Lin-Manuel Miranda all took time to use their platform to help share this important message, but none has done so more vigilantly on the behalf of hip-hop than Joe Budden.

The retired Slaughterhouse affiliate and now co-host of Complex’s ‘Everyday Struggle,’ has not been shy about the path to fighting his own demons and making hip-hop a safe space for others to fight their own.

Budden was brought to tears on Everyday’s Struggle about a month ago when he and Akademicks were discussing Styles P’s interview with Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club when the “I Get High” rapper spoke on his daughter’s suicide and the lack of mental wellness and awareness in the African American community.

Budden also spoke on the ‘Grass Routes Podcast’ for Mental Health Awareness Day. My dude gets deep about battling with suicidal thoughts before he achieved worldwide fame with his track “Pump It Up.”

“For me, there have been less than five times where I’ve actually attempted suicide,” Budden said. “That wasn’t in ’03, ’04, ‘Pump it Up’ was out then. But that didn’t mean that the days weren’t dark. That didn’t mean that the suicidal thoughts weren’t there […] when I say ’04, that’s when I didn’t really have those thoughts anymore.”

Even though he’s spoken on it before, it’s always refreshing to hear about someone’s climb out of the abyss. Budden has had worldwide success but still could not find happiness.

According to Budden, it wasn’t until stepping away from music that he was able to fully heal and process that source of his pain.

“As open as I’ve been when it comes to mental health, it wasn’t until ‘retirement’ that I was able to dive into some of the things the fans have seen. That would have never happened if I was still an active rapper. As an active rapper, I have to protect everything that comes with being signed to Shady, all the politics, all the behind-the-scenes, what it takes to get the job done.”

When you think of Kehlani, Kanye, Kid Cudi, Logic, and many others, you see that we do have an issue in our beloved industry and community that needs to be addressed. Until there are more artists committed to tearing down the stigma surrounding depression and mental wellness, we’ll still have these types of issues in our communities.

You can be the toughest or most well put together person and still suffer from issues that affect you mentally. Do not be afraid to reach out for help.
