Jeff Staple and Miller Genuine Draft take their global collection to Canada

Jeff Staple and Miller Genuine Draft have come together to drop one of the flyest clothing collections to date.

For the special-edition global collection, the multi-faceted designer and the premium beer brand enlisted four artists from different countries and design disciplines who came together to create a collective black and gold four jacket series of outerwear.

Now Jeff Staple has taken what started as a global collaboration into Canada to create a limited edition streetwear capsule collection.

When the Exceptional Happens

Thoughtfully and carefully, Staple and the Miller Design Lab would hand select tattoo artist Mariano Antonio from South America, Konstantin Zmogk a graffiti artist from Russia, Rich Mnsi a progressive fashion designer from South Africa, and Elie a forward-thinking photographer from Canada.

As the global Miller Design Lab’s curator, for Staple, it was important for him to get the collection just right. Making it look easy, although five creatives were involved in making Miller Genuine Draft’s global collection, the designs came out as if it was created by one sole mind.

In an exclusive interview with KultureHub, Staples touched on what he’s come to learn as a designer, who has been in the game for two decades, and what it takes to amplify the creativity of other artists.

“Even though we’re working with individuals all across the world that, maybe, I’ve never met before when you look at the entire collection it feels cohesive. It feels like it came out of one brain. That’s a lot harder than it sounds.”

Staple’s Stamp of Approval

@elie/ Miller Genuine Draft

Extending the partnership into Canada, Jeff collaborated with MGD to create a versatile streetwear collection, featuring a suite of clothing that can be dressed up or down depending on personal style.

Of course, the Staple collab would be nothing without the iconic pigeon placed smartly on each piece of clothing within the limited-edition MGD Design Lab capsule collection.

The pigeon logo featured on the clothing acts as a nod to the detailed consideration given to the utility, fit, feel and the exceptionally smooth look of each piece and is uniquely designed for the streetwear community in Canada.

When creating the exclusive drop for Canada, Staple was able to extend his East Coast influences and express it on cloth. As a big fan of the country with his deep love and connection to the street culture, he was able to vibe off his creative juices and translate his creativity into a unique collection for “The North.”

With this collection Staple was not only able to incorporate his ideas with the Miller Genuine Draft black and gold colorway and urban nightlife community but he was also able to remind us how epic a collaboration can be, especially when a big brand like MGD gives them a platform.

“In this day and age collaboration is a dime a dozen. People forget how epic they can be. People forget how many of their favorite artists, designers and musicians happened. Your first exposure to them came through collaboration. Otherwise, they would just be toiling away in their studio alone.”

The Man-Hours

When it comes to designing a global and capsule collection the man-hours dedicated to each intricate design play an important role. It takes patience and belief, but most importantly it takes the mental ability to harness hate.

“You’re susceptible to criticism everywhere now. As a creative individual that definitely rides on you. If you hear someone hates what you’ve created you have to take that in. You have to process that in some way. For some people, unfortunately, it shuts them down because they don’t want to hear the criticism…”

Staple continued,

“For me, I’ve been able to harness that, let’s call it ‘hate’, and turn it into a positive. If something that I’ve created is rubbing someone so strongly that they have to voice their opinion about it, that to me as a creative is a win. The worst thing that can happen is if you create something and no one says anything about it. That’s actually the worst thing that can happen. As the world gets smaller you’re going to hear every single person’s opinion about your work and you have to be ready for that. “

For Staple, designing is a labor of love and the creator’s “heart rate would go up” if he started counting the hours. In a way, Staple has to live in the present and as long as he’s happy with the project as it goes, it doesn’t matter how long the project takes.

Challenges that he faced while curating the Miller Genuine Draft global collection were few and far between because he worked closely with each creative to ensure that their ideas could be best portrayed the way they intended.

Even when it came to working with tattoo artist Mariano he explained that a tattoo gun doesn’t work the same way as an embroidery needle. Still, the two went back to the drawing board to create a tattoo level detailed design.

Staple’s Legacy and Inspiring Other Creatives

With 20 plus years in the game, you can imagine it must be hard for Staple to keep up with the trends. But, Staple is the trend and what he does tells hypebeasts what the trend of the year might be.

Truthfully, Staple and his team have positioned themselves in a place where they sit in the middle between staying true to their legacy and tapping into what’s happening in the fashion world.

“I don’t want to be a stodgy old brand that just never changes or evolves, as a creative it would kill me to do that. So, I try to sit in the middle and really balance the legacy that I’ve created for me and my colleagues at Staple along with dripping in what’s happening in the world.”

Constantly contributing to the “new shit” and being a part of the trendy stew of fashionable waves it’s important that young creatives take something away from Staple’s legacy, his collaboration with diverse artists and with Miller Genuine Draft.

“I see creatives, a lot of time, spending their energy on trying to get noticed versus honing their craft. If you hone your craft we will notice you. You don’t have to spend time politicking or trying to be up in my comments. That’s just a waste of time, man. If your good we’ll notice just keep honing your craft.”

@elie/Miller Genuine Draft

Was DJ Khaled robbed the No. 1 spot? 100,000 ‘bundle deals’ later we investigate

DJ Khaled is big mad at Billboard — monster lawsuit mad.

According to Page Six, the Father of Asahd artist felt some type of way after he felt the Billboard Chart robbed him of the No. 1 spot. Just last week it was reported that the legendary producer threw a tantrum because his album didn’t debut at the top of the charts.

One source indicated that Khaled “stormed into Epic with an entourage.” Another claimed that “he was furious,” and that “there was some nasty stuff said.” Still, the “father of positivity” might be in the right.

Genius. Dj Khaled GIF by Genius - Find & Share on GIPHY

Tyler, the Creator’s IGOR album debuted at the No. 1 spot ahead of Father of Asahd with 165,000 and 137,000 albums sold respectively. But Billboard discounted one aspect of Khaled’s record sales, 100,000+ “bundle deal” album downloads.

If you haven’t peeped, the “bundle deal” has become some type of norm, better yet a trend. We all see our favorite recording artists and their labels pair album downloads with fly merch or concert tickets.

For sure, it’s a “finesse,” but in this age who cares downloads are downloads and if any of us happen to get a pair of concert tickets with an album download we would think it’s well deserved.

Taylor Swift is doing it with her new album and Travis Scott did it last year with his album “AstroWorld.” In fact, Tyler, the Creator’s album-bundle figures were included in his total which inadvertently rocketed his album to the No. 1 spot.

So, why wasn’t Khaled’s 100,000+ energy drink album bundle streams included? In an NYT article written by Ben Sisario, extensive digging found that Billboard was wary of Shop.com and Market America’s actions.

It seemed as if the e-commerce site and its corporate parent, pushed unauthorized bulk sales of Khaled’s energy drink album-bundle.

Although Khaled may feel cheated it is good to know that Billboard is at least trying to play watchdog.

Deanna Brown, the president of the Billboard-Hollywood Reporter Media Group, a division of Valence Media told the NYT, that Billboard plans to tighten the rules on merchandise bundling.

Still, the people over at Roc Nation felt blindsided. Desiree Perez, Roc Nation’s chief operating officer threw shade to the album bundling practice in a statement:

“We dispute their decision on behalf of DJ Khaled and, frankly, every artist who is forced to navigate bundling an album download with an inexpensive item that still effectively represents their brand. It’s confusing and demeaning to the art.”

She added,

“We’re obviously not fans of bundling, nor should anyone who cares about artists making music. But our hands are being forced by Billboard’s desperate, last-ditch effort to keep streaming from eliminating what’s left of music downloads.”

Whatever happens, a new system definitely needs to be put into place for all artists to feel that there is still a chance to make it to the No. 1 spot, authentically. Only time will tell, we guess.

For now, just pray that Khaled keeps his cool under all this chart nonsense. We need him to focus on passing the torch down to his son. After all who else could be a better father to Asahd.

Can you afford to go to space? Only if you can spend a $60 million bag

Making it to space is almost everyone’s dream. From a space station orbiting our beautiful blue planet are astronauts that look down and wonder at the awe and power of a sphere that rotates around a giant sun.

We look back at them as they twinkle in a dark sky that seems so distant. We too wonder what it would be like to see us from up there.

Well, that could happen sooner than we think. NASA recently announced plans to open the International Space Station to commercial business, including tourism. But, again, how Sway?

There were mad promises made for this space tourism program to get going dating back to the SpaceShipTwo days.  Now, with Branson’s Virgin Galatic, Musk’s Space X, and Bezos’ Blue Origin privatized spaceflight initiatives, commercial flights to space could go down by 2020.

According to the Friday announcement, NASA is willing to allow some ventures that are purely for profit, without requiring an educational or a research component. That could include flying trinkets to space and then selling them on Earth.

Still, getting space is not for the poor of pocket. You most definitely need a bag plus five bags on reserve to be able to afford the venture into the mysterious dark dimension.

For starters, it costs around $35,000 a night just to post up in the space station and there are no one-day trips. Nah you have to chill for a good 30 to 60 days, fam. That’s an extraterrestrial bag for regular accommodations such as WiFi and a bed.

Not to mention the basic amenities, including water and a toilet. Oh yeah, and AIR! Also, based on the history of our wonderful capitalistic and entrepreneurial spirits, naturally, expect the private companies involved to add some tax to that sweet $35 g’s.

We haven’t even gotten to how much it costs to get there. HA! At a news briefing on June 7, Jeff DeWitt, NASA’s CFO said estimated that one seat on a space flight, operated by SpaceX and Boeing, would cost around $58 million.

With only two private space flights allowed per year, space tourism wouldn’t even come close to covering the costs of operating the space station. Noted by the NYT, NASA currently spends $3 billion to $4 billion a year, or more than $8 million a day on the giant can orbiting our planet.

Damn, the washed Millenials and the bratty nation of Gen-Z have a lot of saving to do if any of us are looking to get up there any time soon. For sure, it would be an epic feat.

The million dollar guide on how to spend big racks like Young Dolph

Young Dolph recently dropped the video remix to his single “By Mistake” featuring Three 6 Mafia legends Juicy J and Project Pat. After watching the video and listening to the track non-stop around 50 times I couldn’t help but think what if…

“I just walked in Barneys, spent a 40 by mistake
If I take you out, b—h that’s a million dollar date”

On my budget, the thought of spending a whole million dollars on one date jogged my confidence. Even if I was to win the lottery my concept of racks would halt me from doing so.

Still, it was hard not to fantasize how Young Dolph would do this, especially after watching the “By Mistake” (Remix) video.

$40,000 deep at Barney’s

The first thought that came to mind was ‘Am I really about to drop one million on someone over the course of 24 hours¿’ What would Dolph do before the date? Probably cop the most racky fit out there. Bet, we out to Barney’s to spend 40 stacks by mistake.

It’s always “dress to impress” on the first date so it would only be right to cop the full Valentino fit. Down to the socks. Also, on some Dolph shit, I would have to cop two, maybe three, of everything.

Purse: $960,000

$300,000 on some new custom ice

Dressed to the nines, it’s important not to forget about the ice and after spending a bag at Barney’s it’s only necessary to drop even more on some wattage.

Why? Because you’ll come to find out most posers out there aren’t rocking the real ice, as Dolph highlights in his latest track “Crashin’ Out.”

Lowkey, his Dolphin pendant by itself cost $50,000 and if you throw in his wrist ware plus an iced out tennis bracelet for shawty it should equal a nice 300k (probably more).

Still, that’s light for the Memphis rapper who wasn’t even mad over the $500,000 worth of jewelry that was stolen from him earlier this year.

Purse: $660,000

Fug it let’s show out and drop another $350,000 on a camouflage wrapped Bentley and a driver for the day

Like Dolph for the first date we have to pull up in style and that means pulling up in the finest of whips with a driver because “I’m DUI right now, I don’t belong behind the wheel.”

Mind you we still have to scoop shawty.

Purse: $310,000

Another $40,000 on getting shawty on some fly shi*t

Whoever Dolph is picking up has to be a baddie and that baddie has to be on her fly shit just like him. Ahead of time, Dolph already Cashapp’d her five racks to get her hair done and her hair did, even though she already had the bag.

After that Dolph would have his boy meet her at the salon with another bag so she and her friends can go shopping for that Fenty. You know why? Because Dolph is in the studio working on getting another check.

On God.

Purse: $260,000

Before the driver picks shawty up, Dolph needs to spend at least $12,000 on the finest of trees

Smacked and coming out of the studio, Dolph realizes more than anything else he needs the best gas he can get. It’s smoke to impress these days, right? That means dropping another bag on weed for him, his girl, and PRE.

At about $4,000 per pound for premium, we already know Dolph is copping three. No discounts.

Purse: $248,000

It’s time to scoop but little does our date know that Dolph copped the round trip flight on a PJ to Malibu from Memphis for $56,000

Naturally, for Dolph, it’s from “the projects to private jets picking up check after check,” always. Therefore it’s only right that he shows his date the way he pulls up to any location.

Know that shawty is getting scooped by a driver in a camouflage wrapped Bentley and dropping her and the Memphis rapper off at the runway to fly to dinner. At the end of the day, it’s all about royalty and treating the trap queen right.

Oh, and once they arrive scoopage in the Rolls is necessary for another $4,000.

Purse: $188,000

When we land it’s straight to Nobu to spend at least $15,000.

It’s very important that Dolph shows his date that he always eats at the best restaurants because in this world if you have the budget why not spend a couple of racks at Nobu? Terrible right? Nah.

We’re talking about $78 small lobster plates, homie. Plus, shreddy know we are buying out the menu, copping the private rooms, and holding down PRE. Keep us away from suckers.

“I got a sweet tooth but I stay away from suckers (for real though)
Nobu in Malibu was my last supper (we eatin’ good)”

Purse: $173,000

It’s time to hit the Ace of Diamonds strip club with $50,000 and hella backwoods

After a five-star meal, Dolph has to see if shawty is five-star trill and dope enough to hang with the boys. That means we out to the strip club. Dolph wants to see her throw ones out like the boss she truly is.

Truthfully, the strip club does reveal a lot of things and the “boss” emotion is definitely one of them.

Purse: 123,000

Dolph brings it back to a $10,000 a night Malibu mansion for the vibes and more loud

Dolph is known to break the bank, on the regular. So, spending a million dollars in one night to show his date what it is might be type lightwork.

After, a ballin’ day with the Memphis legend, shawty is still surprised at the end of their extracurriculars when her and Dolph pull up to the Malibu mansion. Plus, you have to throw in the amenities.

A personal chef for an exquisite breakfast in the morning, extra gas, and a phantom just to roll out in. It can’t get any better than that, fam. How would you entertain your date if you had Dolph’s budget?

Robert F. Smith might be the biggest boss we have seen thus far

Talk about a “flex” for the culture.

In a commencement speech this past Sunday, billionaire investor Robert F. Smith spoke to the Morehouse College 2019 graduating class and made a promise to pay off their student loan debt.

“On behalf of the eight generations of my family who have been in this country, we’re going to put a little fuel in your bus,” said the richest Black man in America.

After announcing his family was creating a grant to eliminate their student loans, Smith continued, “Now, I know my class will make sure they pay this forward…”

“I want my class to look at these (alumni) — these beautiful Morehouse brothers — and let’s make sure every class has the same opportunity going forward because we are enough to take care of our own community. We are enough to ensure we have all the opportunities of the American dream.”

Student loan debt is an issue plaguing the bank accounts of young Americans who are seeking the benefits of obtaining a degree from collegiate institutions.

According to research conducted by Student Loan Hero, there are 44.7 million Americans with student loan debt. Another surprising stat, Americans owe over $1.56 trillion in student loan debt.

That’s $521 billion more than the total U.S. credit card debt. Damn, right? Obviously, this is a very serious issue as more students look to graduate college. Debt can make it hard to progress in a world where the almighty dollar is king and the key to stability.

Simply put if money is the key, debt is the chains. In a way, the youth who want to better society and use their knowledge to do so should be given the opportunity. Furthermore, all should be granted or at least given a chance to reap the benefits of the American dream.

Coming up Robert F. Smith was lucky enough to have both parents in his life and both were educated. Still, to get where he is today wasn’t easy but his $5 billion fortune and playboy model wife prove that the American dream is within reach.

It took ambition, a respect for knowledge, and undying love for his people that has allowed him to accomplish the things he has done today. Additionally, his parents ingrained acts of philanthropy into his mindset from a young age.

In an interview with David Rubenstein, Smith recalled

“I saw my mother write a $25 check to the United Negro College Fund every month growing up… I saw my father, who was on the board and ran the local YMCA, and how he contributed time and energy and intellectual capacity on raising funds… All through my life growing  up, philanthropic endeavors were a part of my family’s dynamic.”

Along with paying off 396 Morehouse College 2019 students’ loan debt, Robert F. Smith has also donated $1.5 million to the HBCU and made numerous contributions to the National Museum of African-American History and Culture.

Additionally, he is the co-founder of Lincoln Hills Cares, a ranch dedicated to helping the underserved youth populations in the Denver Metro area.

Still, what Smith did for those Morehouse graduates is definitely one for the books. Let’s hope this starts a trend to liberate the youth and allow them to truly chase their dreams and passions.

The proof is in the testimonies. Charles Releford an aspiring illustrator who accumulated around $70,000 in loan debt told CNN,

“I’m really excited to see where my life can go now because all different avenues are open now so I’m not held down. There’s no burden, student loans — I’m debt-free.”

Chris Rock bets on his talent and takes a crack at horror in new ‘Saw’ flick

We all love Chris Rock. His hilarious charm has graced our TV sets and movie screens for a generation but now he’s looking to take a crack at horror in a new adaption of the film, Saw.

The transition from comedy to horror is a proven formula. Jordan Peele did it with Get Out and Us’. Tim Curry took his chances with The Rock Horror Stories. Lowkey, for Curry that was a career choice that allowed him to tap into his IT character.

Furthermore, who could forget Robin Williams as Seymour Parrish in One Hour Photo or Jim Carrey as the Cable Guy?

Therefore, Chris Rock trusting his acting, writing, and producing talents and taking them over to his scary side was a no brainer. In fact, Rock pitched such a great story that Jigsaw writers Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg had no other choice but hop aboard.

Besides the amazing pitch, Rock will also executive produce the Lionsgate film, not too bad for the comedian’s first attempt at horror. To date, the Saw series is one of Lionsgate’s most successful horror flicks.

Back in 2004, the first Saw was made on a budget that didn’t even reach $1 million and the $100 million dollar success at the box office would set a trend for fright seekers everywhere.

Image result for jigsaw gif

After getting the bag for the first release, sequels to the franchise would get produced yearly. Saw II, III, IV, V, VI, and 3D would do numbers at the box office too and earn $87 million, $80 million, $63 million, $57 million, $28 million, and $46 million respectively.

Also, Saw is Lionsgate’s fourth-highest-grossing film in the United States and Canada. Not to mention,  the franchise resurfaced in 2017 with Jigsaw. On a $10 million dollar budget, the film would rake in $100 million at the box office.

Lionsgate’s Motion Picture Group chairman Joe Drake told Deadline,

“When Chris Rock came to us and described in chilling detail his fantastic vision that reimagines and spins-off the world of the notorious Jigsaw Killer, we were all in…”

“Chris conceived this idea and it will be completely reverential to the legacy of the material while reinvigorating the brand with his wit, creative vision, and passion for this classic horror franchise,” he continued.

For sure this is going to be one scary flick and with a drop date, Oct. 23, 2020, so close to Halloween it has to have us shaking in our boots. Rock told Deadline,

“I’ve been a fan of Saw since the first film in 2004… I am excited by the opportunity to take this to a really intense and twisted new place.”

If Rock can reign, comedy king, for more than a decade we have faith that he might do some good in the horror sector. Only time will tell.

DJ Khaled to drop legendary doc, ‘Father of Asahd: The Album Experience’

DJ Khaled has “another one” for all of his fans. Following the drop of his latest album the legendary producer will be releasing the documentary, Father of Asahd: The Album Experience, exclusively on May 21 via TIDAL.

The trailer looks extremely lit as we watch high-speed clips of hip-hop’s greatest like Big Sean, Jigga, and Meek Mill bop to the fire tracks. Adding to the cinematic hype, reels of behind the scene shots compliment the gas.

https://tidal.com/browse/video/109261925

Not only is Father of Asahd one of the most anticipated albums of 2019 but it might just be DJ Khaled’s best work yet.

Singles like “Top Off” featuring Jay-Z, Beyonce, and Future and “No Brainer” featuring megastars Justin Bieber, Chance the Rapper, Quavo prove that this LP will be one for the books.

There are also rumors circling that Khaled has recorded tracks with the late Nipsey Hussle and the iconic John Legend. Obviously, Father of Asahd is definitely looking to leave its musical mark on the culture.

How singer Annalise Azadian moves in faith and not in fear

Having faith in yourself is not as easy as it sounds but for singer-songwriter Annalise Azadian, it’s second nature. The NYC-based artist has come a long way in her career and at 23 she’s on one hell of a musical journey.

From her pre-teen years, the self-taught artist was playing the piano and songwriting. At 14, Azadian was performing at the Apollo. Then at 16 she would graduate high school early and get accepted into one of the best music colleges in the world, Berklee.

After one year Azadian would drop out because of opportunities to record music in NYC. Can you imagine traveling back and forth on a bus for five hours just to perfect your passion then going to class in the morning? That would be draining.

Thus, Azadian made the ultimate decision to go for the music, especially after she met and performed for Busta Rhymes. He delivered some encouraging words, “You’re a star.”

Destined for stardom, DJ Enuff would host her on his couch for nine months until she got a little side gig doing accountant work. Still, her craft kept on calling her to become a full-time musician.

She couldn’t focus and decided to hold down a job at Billionaire Boys Club where she would build connections in the fashion industry and enough courage to embrace her faith in her music career.

“Move in faith, not in fear…”

With her hands on the reins of life, Azadian is now looking forward to her first live band performance at the Bowery Electric on May 16. It’s awesome to see a younging on her grind accomplishing what seems to be impossible at times to us.

It takes a lot of courage to chase your dreams and if you’re trying to align your self on the same path as Azadian she gave some keywords of wisdom.

“I want to be a legend. I’m in it for longevity. These things don’t come easy and even when life knocks you down 100 times you have to get up 101 times. You never know. It could be right around the corner and you could give up everything you worked for. If you got to get it on your own and you have no one supporting you, you better get it on your own…”

If you have the chance, pull up to Azadian’s performance at the Bowery Electric on Thursday. It’s finna be lit. Click here for tickets.

Getty Images drops the fire Latinx content with their Nosotros Collection

As America faces a new era of racial rebirth, Getty Images looks to break down ethnic barriers with the launch of their Nosotros Collection.

Wouldn’t you want your culture to be accurately represented in the media? That’s a hard thing to have control over. In a way, we have to trust the powers that be to act culturally responsible.

Yet, throughout American history, we were let down, especially Latinx and Hispanic Americans. Time and time again the media stereotyped them, their communities, and what they represent.

We have to be grateful for agencies like Getty Images as they have “always understood the power of imagery to incite change,” said Manager of Creative Insights Tristen Norman.

Getty Images

With the Nosotros Collection, Getty hopes to continue their passionate mission of “breaking down the stereotypes of communities who have either been erased or misrepresented for decades.”

“Imagery can have a tremendous impact by fighting stereotypes and celebrating diversity- making communities feel empowered and represented in society,” said Norman.

The launch comes by way of the current demand for Latinx content. Proving this, in the U.S. alone, there are 57.5 million Latinx/Hispanic Americans, making them the nation’s largest ethnic minority

Getty Images

The proof is in the searches. Search terms on GettyImages.com such as ‘Latinx’ have increased 2950 percent, ‘America Latina’ by 538 percent, ‘Latino community’ by 246 percent and ‘Hispanic seniors’ by 241 percent.

Pushing the Nosotros Collection initiative even further, after doing avid research Getty’s creative team conducted focus groups with members of the Latinx community across the country and asked them how they would like to be seen in media and advertising.

Getty Images

Tapping into a community and obtaining the right ethnic perspective is exactly what American media needs to push the culture forward. Additionally, in 2018, the Creative Team traveled to five cities across the United States and signed up dozens of new Latinx contributors, many of whom have imagery that is in this collection.

“While we cannot change what people publish or click on overnight, we can provide better alternatives for those looking to create more authentic stories,” said Senior Art Director Claudia Marks.

Getty Images

The Nosotros Collection truly shows that storytelling can be authentic and give not only the Latin Americans a voice that belongs to them in the media but every ethnic group that’s misrepresented.

Hopefully, Getty can continue to tap into the culture and continue to distribute imagery that breaks down stereotypes, changes perspectives, and promotes equality.

Will whites get tight? Minorities to become the majority in U.S. by 2045

In 2045 we’ll finally be able to say that America is truly the melting pot of the world. Population trends are showing that within two decades the U.S. as a whole is projected to become majority-minority.

This is good news but we also have to think about the race that is becoming the minority. Whites have run this shit for centuries and some might feel like their livelihoods on top of the racial totem pole are at risk.

The whole perspective of this country will shift. We should expect the best but also be wary of the worst. People get tight during a power struggle, especially a racial one. Still, we could thrive, but history does always repeat itself.

Whites pulled up to the sandy shores of “The Land of Opportunity” and peaced the Native Americans in an attempt to expand their exploits in a new world.

They enslaved the Blacks, broke them mentally, and separated them from their families. Not to mention the assassinations of any leader Blacks looked up to – Malcolm X, MLK,  Fred Hampton, Dr. Newton. All were taken away to eliminate a hope in Blacks that might make them think they are capable of success in America.

Lest we forget, what’s currently going on in Trumps America. Latinos are more worried than ever about either being detained or deported, regardless of their legal status. Although they make a huge contribution to the American economy. Still, some whites see them as a threat. Need I go on?

Line chart showing that the Trump administration has renewed deportation worries among Latinos.
Of course, some people will find this “trend” scary. Don’t think that white-America is unaware. Oh, they know. Research conducted by Yale social psychologist Jennifer Richeson found white Americans often feel threatened by growing diversity.

Additionally, a recent Pew Research Center survey found that 59 percent of Republicans and 46 percent of whites said a majority non-white population will weaken American culture.

Lowkey, if I was a racist white person I would be shook AF. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, since 2010, non-Hispanic white people have become the minority in a total of 372 counties.

More research from William Frey, a Brookings Institution demographer and author of “Diversity Explosion: How New Racial Demographics are Remaking America,” predicted that next year the entire under-18 population will be majority non-white.

Although, this is dope it still feels like most people won’t believe it. In fact, just based on how Americans react to things, they’ll probably deny it. Monica Toft, a professor of international politics at Tufts University, told Axios,

“[We] have to come up with a narrative that realizes and accepts that the U.S. is an immigrant nation… We’re denying that.”

From a political perspective, it could work in the minority or the majority’s favor. The American political system’s foundation was built on polarization.

Whether it was encouraging people to declare independence from their sovereign nation, to support slavery, or get immigrants out of the country, most political candidates have surfed on some kind societal wave.

So, you can expect that with this news, some whites or people on the conservative side might go into a panic. Jack Goldstone, Hazel Professor of Public Policy at George Mason University, told Axios,

“The panic translates into an effective voting block that has high anxiety about immigration, diversity and religious issues.”

Although the entire non-white under-18 population might become the majority next year and younger people tend to vote Democrat, in the long run, Goldstone noted, if the GOP shifts and learns to embrace more Hispanic voters, it could be a source of new energy for the party.

Adding on to the anxiety Richard Alba, a sociologist and professor at the City University of New York, told Axios, as immigrant minorities assimilate, “they may turn out to vote more like whites.”

Chill.
