Commission Black artists: 5 creatives to watch out for in 2021

Black artists deserve a larger commission check, straight facts. They are on the rise as we look to make our favorite fashion and art pieces more personal. And celebrities are putting in new orders daily.

From superstar athletes to world-renowned rappers, clients are willing to dish a bag for a super customized art piece or super rare fashion collectible.

These days it’s all about one-of-ones. And black artists are making sure they are there for every single come-up opportunity they can get.

Here’s our list of five young black artists on the rise that we think deserve a big ass commission check for their work and creativity.

1. Al-Baseer Holly

Al-Baseer Holly is one hell of an artist. Taking his talents off the canvas it seems as if creative obstacles have become a thing of the past.

Using his connections, Holly has made a tone of movements outside the comfort zone of your regular customization artist. Self-taught, the recording artist, turned contemporary visual artist recently made a move in the right direction.

Meshing the trends, ABH was able to take his creativity to another level by welcoming Bobby Shmurda back home with custom hand-painted Louis Vuitton briefcases.

The Shmurda Kit is getting quite the buzz it deserves since they’ve hit the internet. But there’s more to ABH than just the briefcases. Making a name for himself, ABH’s works have been featured in numerous collaborations.

From his “I see flowers” exclusive drop on NTWRK to his exhibition “2 sides to every story” there a lot in store for the contemporary painter and customization artist.

2. Sierato

Sierato aka Cory Bailey is well-known, unless you’ve been sleeping under a rock. The young black artist has come a long way in his career and is constantly getting new commissions in from superstar athletes.

From James Harden to Trae Young, Sierato creates insane customized sneakers for all his athletic homies.

Customizing sneakers isn’t his only forte and Sierato’s most recent collab with Round21 proves it.

Together, they created an exclusive “Rec Set” that dropped on NTWRK of ping-pong paddles and mini basketball hoops that bring art directly into the realm of play.

Although 2020 was a down year for most of us, some black artists took advantage of the situation and used the time at home to think of new ideas and ways to keep those commissions coming in.

That includes Sierato:

“BEING IN THE HOUSE ALL THE TIME, WITH NOT MUCH ELSE GOING ON JUST KIND OF REALLY GAVE ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO REEVALUATE WHAT I HAD GOING ON CONTENT-WISE. I CAME UP WITH NEW SHOW IDEAS, NEW SKETCH IDEAS, JUST A LOT OF NEW CONTENT STUFF THAT WE’RE GOING TO HAVE ROLLED OUT.”

– Sierato for KultureHub

3. Destiny Wilson aka The Artvst

The Artvst is on the come up… At 18, her custom sneakers have paid homage to history, Breast Cancer Awareness, even Taco Bell. If anyone deserves a bigger commission check it’s this young black artist.

In her youth she would create wallets out of duct tape and draw so well her teacher though she was tracing images. She would eventually go on to design the cover of her middle school’s yearbook.

Eventually she would pick up a stylus and get “nice” at digital drawing. and then at 15 she would doodle on a pair of sneakers to customize her first pair.

And the rest is history…

Her bag is well overdue.

“As Black people, we’ve faced and continue to face years of oppression. Systems against us that were never intended to work in our favor. We’re tired, but we won’t stop fighting.”

– Destiny Wilson via Instagram

4. Club Bum

I met Club Bum a couple of years ago. Back then he was painting on an enormous canvas for an exhibition. FYI: The canvas was f*cking wild. But to see how far he’s come has been an honor.

His artistic style blew my mind and it still does. The way he manipulates the paint on canvas to distort our favorite cartoon characters into something out of this world is something that can’t be mimicked.

It was no surprise, to me at least, when news came through that he was chosen for Overtime’s Paint Wars web series. What did surprise me we’re how fire his custom sneakers came out.

Who wouldn’t commission the young black artist?

5. Creating Luther

Someone tell this man to put the images back on his gram! We’ve been following Luther for some time and what brought us to his page was his crazy take on sneaker customization.

Creativity and originality are always in style. Designer Odessa has one of the most original and creative IG accounts on the platform right now. He posts original designs for kicks but with a twist. They’re visibly made with outlandish materials.

To be honest, I wouldn’t really know what a commission from this young black artist would look like, but I know that I would absolutely love it.

From a Shmurda Kit to customized sneakers that look so good that you wanna eat em, these five young black artists are destined to get higher commission rates as we continue to body 2021.

Keep your eyes peeled and who knows if you hit em up early you might get your hands of a one of a kind piece someone else will want to invest in later.

Stay creative.

What is Telcoin? The cryptocurrency opening up the wealth pool

Telcoin is a financial technology platform leveraging the blockchain to facilitate high-speed, low-cost international remittances. Think cryptocurrency meets Western Union or Money Gram. People all over the world will be able to send money to their loved ones smarter.

Since its founding in 2017, Telcoin has come a long way. Navigating its way to the blockchain, the cryptocurrency coin has successfully made its way to Canada and the Philippines.

Starting its venture to connect telecom and mobile money platforms globally, we have to say, Telcoin is off to a good start.

The Telcoin Community

The token is building quite a buzz. Its most recent collaboration with GCash, the leading mobile e-wallet in the Philippines, with more than 33 million users nationwide, will help in the mission to lower the cost of international money transfers.

But how Sway?

via GIPHY

A GSMA associate member since 2018, Telcoin looks to lower the cost of international money transfers by emphasizing direct connections with mobile money providers.

Sending money smarter…

Filippinos receive around $2.8 billion a year in remittances from Canada

The global average cost of sending a remittance is at roughly 7 percent, including fees and foreign exchange margin. Telcoin looks to target just 2.5 percent or less to send a remittance using any mobile device.

Cutting the percentage in half, the cryptocurrency is well below the average cost of sending money from Canada to the Philippines, which the World Bank reported to be 4.92 percent in the fourth quarter of 2020.

According to the GSMA’s latest state of the industry report, there are more than 1 billion active mobile money accounts in 95 countries, capturing $7.3 billion in annual remittance value. With a total market value of nearly $700 billion, there is massive room for growth in mobile money-focused remittance services.

“Telcoin’s strategy of direct connections with telecom and mobile money partners will enable us to rapidly scale, keep costs low and ensure the health and safety of our users thanks to the contactless nature of transacting on mobile and not at a physical shop…”

We intend to become a household name in the Philippines, putting more money back in our users’ pockets when they need it most.

– Telcoin Chief Executive Paul Neuner

But what’s next, tho?

As more people begin to discover Telcoin we can expect the buzz to only get louder within crypto communities and on an international level.

Additionally, as we adjust to the “new normal“, every day, e-wallet transactions seem to be a trend that’s looking to stay.

According to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, electronic money transactions processed by fintech companies led by PayMaya and GCash more than tripled as the shift to e-wallet payments from the traditional mode of cash transactions accelerated amid the global health pandemic.

Telcoin on the other hand continues to build. At the brink of 2021, the platform dropped an update to its community:

We’ve submitted V2 of the Telcoin application to both the App Store and Play Store — fiat remittances are finally becoming a reality. More importantly, this milestone closes the book on our transitional period.

From here forward, in addition to continuing to add fiat remittance corridors, we are all from a product standpoint working on efforts initiated by the new team — namely Telcoin V3.

The future looks bright for the fintech platform. If you’re looking to check out more and stay up to date with the coin’s trends check out Telcoin on KuCoin.

‘What It Feels Like’ solidifies Nipsey and Jay-Z as rap’s greatest duo

The impression Nipsey Hussle left on the Black community and the fact that Jay-Z was born on the same day of Fred Hampton’s assassination has to mean something… Especially, after the new “What It Feels Like” track tease from the Judas and the Black Messiah soundtrack, for those reading this, the feeling must be mutual.

Nipsey Hussle and Jay-Z drop “What It Feels Like” inspired by the film Judas and the Black Messiah

Looking at Nipsey Hussle and his career as a whole, one would call him a great, some would even go as far as to call him a prophet. Truthfully, after his death, I thought of him more as a Black Messiah.

The similarities were there. From the miraculous movements he made within the music industry to his untimely death by the hand of his own people, it’s hard not to compare.

He spoke truths and it instilled power. Which in turn instilled fear amongst a group of people who might’ve felt uncomfortable by the inspiration to feed and invest in our neighborhoods and give power to the Black dollar.

Look, the only reason I survive ’cause a ni–a is special, first
You get successful, then it get stressful, thirst
Ni–as gon’ test you, see what your texture’s worth
Diamonds and pipes, wonder when pressure burst
Street ni–a, still I get checks, disperse

– Nipsey Hussle, “What It Feels Like,” Judas And The Black Messiah: The Inspired Album

The same goes for Jay-Z. Time and time again he has proved that he is for the education of our people. Whether it’s dishing out financial literacy through hot bars or setting the example, he’s always been there to lean on for Black knowledge.

I know that payback’s gon’ be mean, I’m savin’ all my little bread
Pray for me, y’all, one day I’ma have to pay for these thoughts
Real ni–as is extinct, it ain’t safe for me, my dawg
Killin’ ni–as in they own hoods, that make sense to you at all?
You burnt your bridge to the other side, you know you can’t swim across

– Jay-Z, “What It Feels Like,” Judas And The Black Messiah: The Inspired Album

Jay-Z gives advice to artists during a fireside chat at Columbia

Truth be told, there is a reason why the Judas and the Black Messiah film has arrived now. There’s a reason why “What It Feels Like” hits harder as Nipsey and Jay-Z strategically weave through a sonic tunnel of inspirational snares, horns, and kicks.

We, Black people, needed to take a look at the struggle and what it’s taken to step into the royal place we deserve to be. History has taken some of our best leaders away from us. Repeating itself, it reopens a scar and serves as a reminder that we’re still in the fight. The fight for respect.

Judas and the Black Messiah – Official Trailer

Still, nothing is forgotten and what doesn’t kill us, makes us stronger and wiser. Ultimately it sets the tone for the next generation of leaders to thrive and to look at the world from a different perspective. A perspective of promise.

This new track only proves one thing: if Nipsey Hussle was still alive, he and Jay-Z would, without argument, go down as the greatest rap duo of all time.

As we wait for the full soundtrack, Judas and the Black Messiah hits HBO Max and theaters Feb. 12.

This AI-powered app will write your Valentine’s Day card

Who would’ve ever thought we would use AI-powered copy for our Valentine’s Day cards?

Oh Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo? That’s a famous line from Shakespere’s “Romeo and Juliet” written 400 years ago.

Unfortunately, the modern-day boyfriend (or girlfriend) is busy playing games on his iPhone. So why handwrite a Valentine’s Day card when a machine can do it for you?

Valentinesday.ai is a free artificial intelligence (AI) app that customizes a romantic message based on relationship dynamics with your partner. Just type a sentence describing your current relationship and you’ll get an AI-powered Valentine’s Day message for your partner.

Why not?

Let’s say you’re bad at expressing feelings. Perhaps you have a habit of saying something cheesy or weird. That’s definitely not what you want to communicate on February 14.

Valentinesday.ai probably won’t make that mistake as long as you accurately tell the app your relationship dynamics.

The app is an offspring (no pun intended) of AI-startup copy.ai which automates marketing copy for businesses. Such AI-written content includes product descriptions, blog headlines and more.

Interestingly, Galentine’s Day (celebrated on February 13) is becoming more popular with women. Galentine’s refers to the celebration of female friendships the day before Valentine’s. If you’re a lady, you can also use the app for the Feb. 13 occasion.

AI is where the world is headed.

The global AI industry was valued at $39.9 billion in 2019 and is projected to grow annually at 42% until 2027. That’s because there are a range of non-business applications. Like Valentine’s Day cards.

Expressions of love can be costly in more ways than one. It’s efficient to have AI compose a Valentine’s Day card for a loved one.

According to the Greeting Card Association, Americans buy 6.5 billion greeting cards each year including Christmas and birthday cards. The annual retail spend is between $7 and $8 billion. By far, the most popular occasion is birthdays followed by (in no particular order) thank you, wedding, get well and new baby.

So how much effort (and money) do love-birds devote to each other on Cupid’s day?

According to data compiled by WallHub, Americans this year will spend $21.8 billion on Valentine’s. That includes $2 billion on flowers and another $2 billion on candy. And 1 in 6 marriages now start online.

So February 14 can be a catalyst for starting a new family. Studies show that men spend twice more than women. However, females buy 80% of greeting cards.

If you really need non-AI ideas, here are popular messages on Valentine’s. According to card-maker Hallmark, the top ones include:

“Wishing the sweetest, happiest day to my forever Valentine.”

“Especially today, I hope you feel how much I love you and how grateful I am to have you in my life.”

“My heart is all yours.”

“Thanks for being you and for being mine.”

“I love all the adventures we have together.”

“God is good. I know because he gave me you to love.”

I wonder what William Shakespeare would have written.

King Vader proves it’s okay to be Black and love Naruto

Who is King Vader? The YouTuber behind the viral sensation Hood Naruto pt. 3. He’s recently partnered with Team Liquid to promote the esports organization’s latest apparel drop – around Naruto Shippuden.

The YouTuber’s creative style of parody for his hood anime videos has caught the attention of over 50 million viewers and counting. You’ve gotta respect the grind as King Vader has opened up an entirely new lane for black creators on YouTube.

Ultimately, he’s created a black-shared experience changing the landscape of anime fandom.

King Vader told BET in an interview:

“I definitely feel like my role when it comes to anime and the hip-hop culture is that I definitely brought it out to the public more, like it’s okay…”

King Vader for BET, April 2020

He continued, “If this is what you like, then wear it, then support it because this anime has supported you at times when you needed it because anime has nothing but great lessons, great visuals, and great storytelling so it’s like, if that [anime] can do that for you, why can’t you represent it outside your house?”

King Vader partnered with Team Liquid to help promote and elevate their new Naruto Shippuden apparel collection – no doubt a smart move.

The US-exclusive collection that will drop at noon PT on Friday, Feb 12 via the Team Liquid Store will feature members of the Hidden Leaf Village alongside Team Liquid iconography.

Click here to access the merch the day of the drop.

Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, Kakashi, and more will be prominently featured across over a dozen select pieces, including a denim jacket, Jonin-inspired parka, cargo joggers, stylized hoodies, and several short sleeve tees.

For the millennials out there, remember when Naruto first came out? Who would’ve thought that merch created around the show could drip this hard and be this cozy?

The liquid swirl logo print on chest to the Naruto universe artwork printed on back of the Naruto Universe Dye Hoodie alone holds so much detail. Additionally the cozy heavyweight cotton fleece dons Team Liquid and Naruto Shippuden trims making the fit more than official.

We couldn’t be more hype for the drop. Here are a few other pieces from the collection that caught our eye…

How These 3 Shows Have Impacted Society (According to Google Trends)

Google Trends is helping us better understand the way in which the world consumes TV shows which have changed significantly in recent years.

While not long ago, people would always be waiting around each week for a new episode to drop, the rise of streaming platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video makes it possible to binge-watch a series’ entire season in a day.

Due to how the world changed in 2020, with people staying in their homes more than ever, it should be no surprise that streaming numbers are higher than ever. According to Covina, the overall viewing time for streaming video content has increased by 57% globally since 2019.

So the world is sat on its couch and watching a large amount of content. Yet beyond investing time into storylines and characters, how does the consumption of shows affect you and society in general? Does it affect what you eat? How you dress? Your music tastes?

This article will help to provide an answer. Using Google search trends and statistical research conducted by Betway Casino, below are three shows that have impacted society in some way.

Emily in Paris

Emily in Paris (Trailer)

Even if you’ve never heard of the show before, it is easy to decipher the type of trends provided by Emily in Paris. One of the big ones is fashion. “Bucket hat” searches jumped up by 342% following the release of the show, for example – and this has been a similar story for other fashion items featured in the series.

The interest in the French capital itself as a travel destination has also grown significantly. Searches for “Paris” increased 43% after the series launched on Netflix. It has also led to the creation of an Emily in Paris tour, which explores various locations that were showcased in the show.

The Crown

A show about the British royal family may not seem like the most obvious place for fashion inspiration. However, searches for certain common clothing pieces have increased due to The Crown. “Blue suit”, “bow collar”, and “turtleneck” have improved by 1%, 2.9%, and 7%, respectively.

As you would expect, global interest in the royal family has also gone up exponentially. Google searches for “Queen Elizabeth II” go up by an average of 433% for each season release.

Plus, following the launch of season four in November, searches for “Prince Charles” and “Princess Diana” skyrocketed by 1425% and 1566%, respectively.

The Queen’s Gambit

Who knew a series based around chess could be so accessible and mainstream? That is what The Queen’s Gambit has managed to achieve, and it has helped to play a small role in molding today’s society.

This has been due to a marked upturn in interest in chess. The word “chess” gained an 88% increase in search volume after the premiere of The Queen’s Gambit. In addition, it has resulted in chess becoming a lot trendier to play in recent times. This is evidenced by the 500% increase in the number of players found on Chess.com.

CBD products could be the answer to that extra energy to help us get through particularly busy and hectic days.

How CBD can help provide improved energy levels

There are various ways in which CBD can help when it comes to improving and maintain higher energy levels throughout the day. Some of the key ways in which it can do this include:

Ensuring Better Sleep

One of the ways in which CBD can help to increase your energy levels is by ensuring you get a proper night’s sleep. If you fail to get proper sleep on a regular basis, it can play havoc with your energy levels.

You will find that you wake up tired, irritable, unfocused, grouchy, and exhausted. This does not bode well if you have a busy day ahead of you and you need lots of energy! When you take CBD, it can regulate your sleeping patterns, and this means you get a proper night’s rest. You will then wake up with more energy and raring to go.

Relaxing Body and Mind

In order to benefit from improved energy levels, you need to be able to rest both your body and your mind. Being unable to switch off and relax can be incredibly exhausting and it can zap you of your energy.

However, a lot of people do struggle when it comes to relaxation, and they find themselves constantly worrying and stressing about things. CBD can help to restore calmness and can make you feel far more relaxed. You should find it easier to switch off, and this means that you can rest your mind as well as your body.

Natural Energy Boost

One other thing to keep in mind is that CBD can provide you with a natural energy boost – all you need to do is use it in small doses throughout the day in order to enjoy these benefits.

This will enable you to enjoy an extra burst of energy each day, and this can prove invaluable for those who have hectic schedules, take part in sports and fitness, or need to get a lot done on a daily basis.

These are some of the ways that CBD can help to improve energy levels.

How to choose the ideal beauty school for a successful career

Have you ever considered going to beauty school?

There are many types of careers that offer benefits such as job satisfaction, the ability to express yourself, the chances to be creative, and plenty of rewards.

One such career is working within the beauty industry, which is a job where you can help to make people feel happy, more confident, and better in themselves.

You can look forward to an exciting and satisfying career where you can earn a good living and do something you really enjoy.

Of course, before you can enjoy these benefits, you need to gain the necessary qualifications and skills. This means finding the right course at the ideal beauty school.

The choice of course and school you make can have a huge impact on your career and future, so it is vital that you put plenty of thought into this.

With so many beauty schools claiming to be the best, it can be a challenge to decide which one is right for you. In this article, we provide some tips to help you make your decision.

Finding the best beauty school

There are a few key tips that can help to make your decision easier when it comes to choosing the ideal beauty school for your course.

One of the key things you need to consider is where the facility is located, as this will determine how easily you can get to the school to study.

For example, if you are looking for a beauty school in San Antonio, make sure you determine how easy it will be to get there by car or via public transport depending on your needs. You can then ensure you do not have to spend hours each day traveling to and from the facility.

Another key thing you must look at when choosing the right beauty school is the types of beauty courses they offer.

There are many different areas of the beauty industry you may want to go into, and this means making sure you take the most suitable course to get into that particular part of the industry.

You should think carefully about which area of beauty you want to focus on, as you can then determine which courses will prove most beneficial to you. This also means that you can look at which beauty schools offer the most suitable courses.

Naturally, you want to go to a beauty school that has a solid reputation for success and has plenty of past students who have gone on to develop successful careers in the industry.

So, do some research to find out more about the track record of the beauty school and to find out more about its reputation. When it comes to the reputation of the school, take some time to go online and check reviews from past students.

This will give you a far better idea about the school and its successes. These are all points that can help you to more easily choose and make the best decision when it comes to finding the perfect beauty school for your needs.

Intense movie moments from 10 gambling flicks that put us on edge

There’s nothing like a suspenseful flick or those intense movie moments that put us over the edge. We’re addicted to the thrill of sabotage whether our favorite character is a gambling savage or just a lethal nuisance to society.

Directors put in the work to make scene after scene cinematically hit and keep us gripping our seats. Plus nothing is better than watching your favorite actor/actress on screen absolutely go through it.

Constantly we enter the void of suspense, intense couch gripping, and teeth grinding movie moments when we watch films like this. But can we really help it?

In real life, it’s an entirely different story. Whether you physically go to a casino or play online, you’re taking a risk that can lead to great rewards. So, of course you’ll have those feelings of excitement and suspense since there is no guaranteed outcome.

If he had an idea, he made it happen and didn’t give a fuck what anyone thought. Here he’s captured by photographer Brock Fetch in his natural elements.

3. A$AP Yams loved his Coogi

“Coogi down to the socks like I’m Biggie Poppa…” A$AP Yams was really about that Coogi life and if you told him something different he wasn’t hearing it.

Ahead of Yams Day 2021 the photographer of this image, Chad Batke, got one the most iconic images of the hip-hop executive in a gallery. The exhibition titled CONTACT HIGH: A Visual History of Hip-Hop at Manarat Al Saadiyat in Abu Dhabi.

The exhibition is a collection of over 40 years of images. Yams going worldwide on us.

This pic of A$AP Yams is the throwback.

On November 13, 1988, is when CoZ culture was born. Since birth A$AP Yams has made more than an effort to ensure his fits were not only fly but comfortable.

So much so, A$AP Mob and their fearless leader were working on an album before the legend’s untimely death. Titled Cozy Tapes: Vol 1 the album would usher in a new era of swag.

The crew was only able to finish the album after Mama Yams granted the Mob access to Yamborghini’s black book. In that Black Book, he wrote all of his ideas down.

Ferg told Complex in an interview:

[Yams] had this thing called The Black Book where he wrote all his ideas, and his mother granted us the access to go through it and complete his vision.

I want to continue my brother’s legacy and continue to complete his vision that he started. It gives me meaning to life. If I don’t have the energy to do [something] for myself, I can do it for him. It wasn’t like we had to make time for it. Wherever we was at in the world, we all came together and did it. It wasn’t an option.

[ASAP Mob] helped build who I am and what I’ve become. There’s no me without them.

That’s why Yams Day is so special…

5. Flyness to him was an objective but he always kept it lowkey

The OG embodied flyness in everything he did. Whether it was music, style, or business he had to keep a sharp hairline at all times and a low tip nail. At the end of the day, he knew that if you felt fly you should always show it off.

But not too much… There are levels to this shit.

Nevertheless, although he was always dripped and putting it on for the A$AP mob behind the scenes, he always remained humble. He never allowed his success to outshine his boys.

And that, everyone has to respect.

6. A$AP Yams always stayed true to himself and music

As a youngin the late hip-hop executive knew he wanted to tap into the music. At 15 he was managing an artist, during that time he paid very close attention to the people who were born on the block and stayed on the block.

Little did he know he would become an icon.

7. He always strived to prosper and his mom is proud

As we look to Yams Day 2021 we can’t help but forget A$AP Yams legacy, his iconic pics, or the imprint he’s left on the culture. We know his crew, his fans, and his mom couldn’t be prouder.

Long Live A$AP Yams.
